A few quick thoughts on John Morrison…

November 30, 2011

John Morrison’s WWE career is now over. From Tough Enough to tag team gold with MNM to teaming with Miz to winning singles gold like the ECW Title and the I-C Title, then to jobber limbo. What went wrong?

Many can speculate that it was his relationship with Melina that ruined his WWE career, who knows. At this point we all suspect that he is TNA bound.

Unfortunately going that route has done nothing for others who’ve come before him. Guys like RVD, Kennedy and Foley have all gone to Orlando hoping for greener pastures only to end up in TNA limbo.

I could only hope that Morrison is the exception but because he is truly talented and deserves a break but my gut tells me its not going to go well.

Morrison would be better off going the route of MVP, Hass and Benjamin. Either going to Japan or going to Ring of Honor.

All we can do now is wait to see what happens.

Good luck where ever you end up next.

Smackdown Thoughts & Review [November 25, 2011]

November 26, 2011

Yeah this is late. It was Thanksgiving weekend?!?

Wilkes-Barre, PA

Mark Henry comes out on crutches. He grabs a mic and says that he’s a champion that deserves respect. He’s hurt but he’s not broken. Henry says that he didn’t kick Big Show in the groin. He’s going to fight through pain and through injuries. He says he can’t compete because the doctors didn’t clear him.

1. United States Champion Dolph Ziggler pins John Morrison via the Zig Zag

Huge “We want Ryder” chant from the raucous MSG crowd!

Great Puma: Really fun opener. Morrison and Ziggler brought the best out of each other. The counters by both men were insane. Big ups to the MSG crowd for the Ryder love.

Mascara de Fuego: Solid opener here. These dudes must have gotten a pep talk in the back before the show!

WWE Survivor Series Predictions

November 20, 2011

WWE Championship Match: Alberto Del Rio vs. CM Punk

Mascara De Fuego: CM Punk. I think they’re going to play hot potato with the WWE Title between Punk and Del Rio for the next few months. Does it make sense to do that? Nope, but nothing this place is doing lately makes fucking sense. If they are going to send the crowd happy this will have to finish the night but they’ll go with Rock’s return for it, (I don’t think that’s going to end how people think). This is why they should adopt the UFC format with their ppv’s and space out their main events matches. They could have saved this for next month’s ppv but I guess that is a story for another time on their ppv formats and build ups. Anyhow this will probably spend a lot of time on the ground, should be a good match.

Great Puma: CM Punk wins the title with a clean victory. New York knows their shit and they like CM Punk. The entire WWE fanbase has been wanting to see CM Punk carry the WWE Championship for a while and this is his time.

World Championship Match: Mark Henry vs. Big Show

Great Puma: Mark Henry should retain here. It’s been fun watching the Big Show make his comeback but I think Mark Henry has done a phenomenal job of giving the WWE a new monster force to be reckoned with. Mark Henry’s aura of invincibility is still being built in my book and he shouldn’t be beaten decisively just yet. Big Show will come close but he won’t be leaving with the title.

Mascara De Fuego: Mark Henry. Its not going to be pretty but I do like the work these two are doing together. Henry is on point and Big Show is still a monster. Should be a good rematch from last month’s ring collapse at the ppv. I wouldn’t get your hopes up on another “big finish” to this one. This should end decisively with Henry getting the victory.

The Rock and John Cena vs. Miz and R Truth

Great Puma: Okay, here goes nothing. The Awesome Truth win tonight with a huge heel turn by John Cena. Not only will the New York crowd eat this up but this will be the first time John Cena’s name will be chanted rabidly by men older than 15 throughout a whole arena. This sets up a classic face vs. heel confrontation at Wrestlemania in Miami where Rock will be the hometown hero. Yes, this is more wishful thinking again than a prediction.

Mascara De Fuego: Miz & Truth. God, where do I begin with this one? Oh, I know the HORRIBLE build to it… This should have been the biggest, easiest build to a ppv yet it was completely fucked up and irrational. Why would I believe Rock wants to team with Cena? There is no reason for him to, nothing has been done in this build to make me think they have to team to beat a team that Cena has beat on his own and doesn’t take seriously with his expressions and dominance other Miz and Truth. I’ve heard a scenario that would have worked perfectly for this match. Miz and Truth needed to take people out convincingly for starters. Cena would have announced his partner as Mick Foley but shortly after the announcement Miz & Truth would have taken Foley out. Word gets back to Rock whose pissed his friend got fucked up and wants to fight Miz and Truth but John Laurinaitis tells the Rock that the only way this will have happened is if he teams with Cena. He approves but only to avenge his friend. See, was that so hard? Those few sentences made more sense than anything they’ve done to this point. Now Truth & Miz look credible and now we have a reason for Rock to team with Cena. At this point there is nothing they can do and it will most likely end with Miz and Truth beating Rock & Cena when they turn on each other. Let’s hope this shitty ending helps Miz and Truth, I’m not holding my breath. This will only serve to add footage to the Rock vs. Cena match at WrestleMania…

Traditional Survivor Series Elimination Match: Team Orton – Randy Orton, Sheamus, Sin Cara, Kofi Kingston & Mason Ryan vs. Team Barrett – Wade Barrett, Cody Rhodes, Hunico, Dolph Ziggler and Jack Swagger

Mascara De Fuego: Team Orton. Seems like Orton’s been on the main event back burner which is why he is going to win this match, most likely with Sheamus. Don’t get me wrong, he’s had solid matches with Cody but until Cody beats him clean no one is going to take him or this feud seriously. Also, Cody should have been captain the opposing team. The champion (even the I-C one) shouldn’t play second fiddle to anyone. Yes Ziggler is also a champion but he is defending his title that night. Anyhow, Orton will win so we don’t forget he is still main event. I do enjoy Survivor Series style matches, sucks this is the only one on the card.

Great Puma: I’m going to stick with my bigger picture booking and say Team Orton takes this. I have a feeling that Cena is finally going to make the heel turn that we all wanted him to tonight. The only way this will truly shock the Madison Square Garden crowd is if most of the faces win all night throughout the card. Team Orton wins by a landslide here with Batista 2.0 Mason Ryan being featured as the WWE’s newest Super Sentai face.

United States Champion Dolph Ziggler vs. John Morrison

Mascara De FuegoDolph Ziggler. Remember John Morrison and when he wasn’t in the dog house? Yeah I barely remember too. So why is he getting this title match over Zack Ryder who makes sense, no clue. Yeah it will be a good match but Morrison needs a long build up for anyone to take him seriously again after the purgatory he’s been in lately. Ryder has been on a roll and would have woken up this MSG crowd, especially being miles from New Jersey. Simple booking yet it’s a mystery how they missed the boat on this one too. Stupid.

Great Puma: If they were going to get behind John Morrison, now would be the time to do it. WWE loves its crowd reactions and New York would definitely appreciate a JoMo title win here. Nothing against Dolph but Morrison winning the title would be a nice surprise. This isn’t necessarily a prediction but more wishful thinking. I actually wish they followed MDF’s line of thought and gave Zack Ryder the title shot. C’mon, WWE!

Divas Champion Beth Phoenix vs. Eve Torres in a Lumberjill Match

Great Puma: Beth Phoenix in a competitive squash, if that makes any sense. Phoenix didn’t go through three pay per views to win the Divas Title just to lose it to Eve in only the second pay per view match of their feud. The WWE fans don’t seem to boo Beth a lot and they don’t seem to be fully behind Eve. Hopefully, the Madison Square Garden crowd will add extra excitement to this match.

Mascara De Fuego: Beth Phoenix. It will be a hot mess that will end with Natalya helping Phoenix win. That is all.
