WM29

WrestleMania 29 Pre-show

-Finally got the preshow to start at about 15mins in. Doesn’t look like anything has happened but recaps of what is to come tonight. They have a booth in the luxuary boxes like the NFL does, similar to what they did on Smackdown. Nice touch. Kofi is in a suit talking to Scott Stanford, Dusty and JR. Guess we’re not seeing Kingston wrestling.

-they do a backstage segment with Snooki & Miz, stupid banter. Barrett walks in to give his two cents about these 2 former reality show stars.

-looks cloudy and overcast in Jersey.

Intercontinental Champion Wade Barrett vs. The Miz

-back and forth, match wasn’t too bad. Miz wins with the figure four.

Winner: The Miz

-as suspected the preshow was filled with recaps but I did like adding the perspective of legends and talent from their analysis team.

-Night Hurricane Sandy video plays before the show before cutting to servicemen on the stage holding American flags.

-the intro for WrestleMania is dope as always putting over how big of a deal with show is.

Sheamus, The Big Show & Randy Orton vs. The Sheild

-Sheamus starts WrestleMania two years in a row. Damn there is something about the Shield’s entrance that made them look like legit superstars. Its not like they did anything especial but it just looked dope coming through this crowd. In the early going the Team Orton has the advantage. The tag to Ambrose got a solid reaction. Show is working heavy duty for the Shield. Sheild returned the favor for Sheamus and the hot tag. Sheamus almost took the Sheild Bomb but Show makes the save with a spear to everyone! Show was going to take a hot tag when Orton took it instead, Show didn’t like that shit. Rollins springboards into an RKO but then walks into a Reigns spear for the Ambrose pin on Orton. Good opener!

Winner: The Shield

-After the match Show KO’s Sheamus and Orton for a solid boo from the crowd. No real turns seeing at Big Show was always a heel.

-video package for Rock vs. Cena, you’d think this match was next.

Ryback vs. Mark Henry

-Ryback FINALLY gets pyro for his intro. Crowd is solidly behind Henry here, gotta love NYC even chanting Sexual Chocolate for Henry. Henry keeps the advantage from early on and for most of the match. Ryback makes a comeback and get the meathook before going for the shellshock. He does get him up but Henry holds onto the ropes and squashes Ryback… for the pin!!!?

Winner: Henry

-After the match Henry comes back into the ring only to take a spinebuster and the shellshock!

WWE Tag Team Champion Team Hell No vs. Dolph Ziggler & Big E Langston w/AJ

-Solid YES chants off the bat.  Bryan and Ziggler had a good exchange before the tag to Kane and Langston. Not long before Langston flattens Kane. Ziggler and Kane get a little botchy, dammit just slow down. Bryan and Kane make a comeback which leads to the chokeslam and headbutt from the top for the pin and the win.

Winner: THN

-massive YES chant led by Bryan after the match.

Fandango vs. Chris Jericho

-Big opener for Curtis which a bunch of female dancers. Jericho gets 4th of July style fireworks, dope! Y2J keeps Curtis down from the get go. Jericho lands a high cross body from the top rope to the outside! Fandango lands a stiff kick to the head of Jericho when he was going for the springboard dropkick from the ropes. Fandango gets the legdrop off the top but Jericho kicks out which makes the crowd break out into a Y2J chant. Jericho is short on the lionsault but then goes for the Wall of Jericho only to get rolled up for the pin.

Winner: Fandango

-eh, that was ok. Nothing amazing.

-Piddy performs, he might have been lip syncing. Piddy says WrestleMania starting in NYC in 95… not close man…

-oh look the World Title actually makes it to hour two!

World Champion Alberto Del Rio w/Ricardo Rodriguez vs. Jack Swagger

-Swagger doesn’t even get an entrance but Colter gets a promo before the match. Del Rio is now rocking a rope, nice! He gets fireworks too. Back and forth from the get go in this one, Swagger then slows the match down with a rest hold. Crowd isn’t too much into this one, they do break into a “we want Ziggler” chant. Swagger gets on the ankle lock but when he goes to the ground with it, ADR reverses into the arm breaker! Swagger does break out and back into the ankle lock but Del Rio finally gets to the ropes. Del Rio gets the flash kick and goes for the pin but Zeb puts Swaggers leg on the ropes. This causes Double R to get involved with Colter. He’s taken down and this match spills to the outside. Back in the ring, Del Rio locks in the arm breaker and puts Swagger away!

Winner: Del Rio

The Undertaker vs. CM Punk w/Paul Heyman

-Living Colour plays CM Punk out to the ring, DOPE! New Punk shirt looks dope on the front, lets see the stupid shit it says on the back… oh shit, its dope too. Might need to get this. Taker gets fireworks tonight as well for this intro. Punk is playing with the urn at ringside before the match. Punk playing smart off the back keeping his distance and striking when Taker is open. This one is FAST paced, Punk is keeping the tempo. Taker clears off the Spanish announce table before taking Punk back first into the ring post. Battling Undertaker/CM Punk chants, awesome! Leg drop on the apron to Punk. Match heads back into the ring where Taker goes for old school but Punk pulls him off the top! Punk gets his own old school on Taker! Punk goes for old school again but takes the nut shot on the top rope instead. Punk with the Macho Man elbow off the top for a 2½ count. Chokeslam by Taker got a really close 2½! Back to the outside where Taker goes for the power bomb but Punk rolls out… oh shit, Taker is on the table and Punk is going to the top rope….  He hits it but the fucking table doesn’t break! God dammit! Taker barely makes it back to the ring at a 9½ count! Out of nowhere Taker gets the Hells Gate on Punk but he rolls out for a pin attempt. Anaconda vise is locked in! Punk tries a pin attempt in the move and Taker stands sits up! GTS!!!! OH SHIT TOMBSTONE…1..2…KICKOUT! YAY/BOO exchanges of punches. Ref is down! Taker goes for the power bomb but Punk hits Taker with the urn!!! Punk crosses Takers arms…1…2..KICKOUT! Reversals back and forth until the GTS is reversed and Taker gets another tombstone for the pin!

Winner: The Undertaker

-so far (and maybe by far) the best match of the night! After the match Taker reclaims the urn and salutes it before we get massive fireworks.

No Holds Barred with Triple H’s career on the line

Triple H w/Shawn Michaels vs. Brock Lesnar w/Paul Heyman

-Brock gets the fireworks job as does HHH who gets dry ice on his chest during his entrance… oh I bet he’s mad at that shit. This spills to the outside fast with Brock taking the barricade and the announce table. Brock gets clotheslined over the barricade, it was ugly as he landed on his head. Belly to belly by Brock at ringside. Suplex by Brock onto the table and the table finally breaks. Another belly to belly onto the debris of the broken table. So far its been mostly Brock. Series of suplexes by Brock in the ring. HHH makes a comeback is short lived. HBK takes a boot to the fact when he goes to the apron… this sets up for the HHH spinbuster…. HHH goes for the pedigee but Brock fights off. HBK tries to get in a super kick but instead takes the F5. Pedigree…1…2 KICKOUT! HHH gets the sledgehammer but Brock picks him up and F5’s HHH..1…2…KICKOUT! HHH then takes the steel steps to the head. Brock then throws the steps into the ring and bashed HHH again. HHH slaps Brock before trying to his the pedigree again. Brock goes for the Kimora lock instead. Break his arm chant. HHH breaks out with a spin buster. Brock takes the corner post and yes a nut shot, what a cheater! Haha! HHH then wraps Brock’s arm around the corner post and uses a chair, he does the same on the steel steps in the ring. HHH then uses the kimora himself on the injured arm…. Heyman comes in the ring only to take sweet chin music… Lesnar stands up and spinbusters HHH on the steel steps but HHH gets it on again. Brock breaks out of it again but HHH gets in on a third time. Brock breaks out again and HHH DDT’s Lesnar on the steel steps. HHH then uses the sledgehammer on Brock before hulking up and hitting Lesnar with the pedigree on the steel steps… 1… 2… three… ugh.

Winner: Triple H

-this fool and HBK hug after the match before posing and grunting.

-the Hall of Fame 2013 class is brought out, good shit.

-WrestleMania 30 in coming to New Orleans!

-80,676 in attendance at Metlife.

John Cena vs. WWE Champion The Rock

-slower paced to start. Cena is spending a lot of time looking onto the crowd and their reactions. They are spending too much time in rest holds. They have an exchange that ends Cena in the sharpshooter, though Cena breaks out to get booed hard and tries for his UCSM fist. Rock moves and hits a DDT then goes for the Rock Bottom but Cena turns it into the crossface. Cena finally gets fist drop. Rock goes for the elbow but Cena puts him in the STF… Rock breaks Cena’s hands in the STF, looked silly. Rock Bottom for a 2 count. STF by Cena for a 2 of his own. Cena goes to the top and misses the legdrop. Rock then recovers with the peoples elbow for a 2 count. BOO/YAY exchange of punches. Rock Bottom again for a 2½. Rock mocks Cena before going for the people elbow again but Cena stands and hits the AA for a 2½. So far this isn’t as good as last years match. Rock Bottom by Cena for a 2½. Cena is going for the peoples elbow like last year but this time he was ready and held onto the ropes. Teases the AA but Cena takes the Rock Bottom again for a 2½! AA and Rock Bottom teased back and forth… the fuck man?? Cena finally hits another and pins Rock. Anticlimactic.

Winner: Cena

-Slow paced match that focused on 4 fucking moves, lame.

-After the match Cena and Rock have words but no one knows what the fuck they are saying. They shake hands and hug and the crowd is mixed. Cena leaves Rock in the ring while Rock’s music hits. No celebrating for Cena here. They spend more time with Rock thanking the fans for an ovation. Rock greets his family before heading up the ramp where Cena salutes him. Rock salutes back and they raise each others hands as fireworks go off.

WrestleMania 29 – Thoughts & Predictions

WWE Championship Match

The Rock vs. John Cena

Mascara De Fuego: John Cena. I don’t want to see this outcome, I really do not but if makes sense for this story. After being on the short hand of the Rock for the last 2 WrestleMania’s, its only fitting that they let him get one in this year. Not really sure what else to say for this match except for that I hope New York/New Jersey shits on John Cena after he wins. The Rock has to be commended for keeping to such a crazy schedule lately, he has hustled. I did want to see him wrestle a match on RAW but I guess it makes sense that at this level, you have to PAY  to see him wrestle. Rock should disappear for a bit after Mania, that guy needs a day off.

Great Puma: John Cena. The Rock has dominated this feud in every way since it re-started in January. While Cena is getting more boos than cheers in recent weeks, The Rock is approaching the zone he used to be in during his prime, when everybody in the arena would be hanging and reacting to every word he said. Shouldn’t your champion be that guy instead of Cena, who is riding a 50/50 split at every arena he walks into? I realize putting Cena over is the Rock’s way of giving back to the fans and the WWE, but I will not be pleased at all when it happens. Let’s hope Punk-Taker is pushed back to the main event to send everyone home happy.
