07-19-15 WWE Battleground Thoughts…

July 20, 2015

Battleground

Didn’t give a flying fuck about R-Truth vs. King Barrett. Seriously, enough of this shit.

I thought the same shit about Orton vs. Sheamus although St. Louis thought differently since Orton is from there. The RKO to Sheamus was anticlimatic. A bad “out of nowhere”.

The tag team title match between the Prime Time Players taking on The New Day was decent.

Surprised how much time Reigns and Wyatt got but I was kind of suprised at this match. It was good and it seemed the crowd was into it.

The diva’s triple threat with Charlotte, Sasha and Brie was good. Glad they kept Brie to a minimum in this one. I feared they would give her the match but luckily it was Flair who got the submission victory.

I thought the Cena and Owens match was match of the night for sure. I was more of a fan of the first match still. I think it would have made more sense to have Owens pinned and not tapped out if you were going to have him lose. Should have saved the tap out. Interesting choice not to put the title on Owens, believe it or not I’m ok with it soley for Open Challenge matches. What to do with Owens now though..?

Brock vs. Rollins was going pretty well until they did the Undertaker spot… Yeah, the crowd loved it but 1-You just turned Brock heel (no one is booing Taker) a waste when he had recently turned face. 2-Taker just comes off old and bitter for losing at Mania and if he is coming to the aid of his brother who’s been workinng for the Authority for a few years now doesn’t that make him guilty by proxy? 3-Brock losing to Taker at SummerSlam does NOTHING for Brock who should be kept strong. Personally, I hated this. Lame ending, she show was cut off 15 minutes short. The match barely got any legs before this shit.

Overall an ok show with another good Cena/Owens match.

WrestleMania Thoughts & Predictions

WWE World Heavyweight Championship Match
Brock Lesnar vs. Roman Reigns
Mascara De Fuego: Reigns. I love the idea of keeping the title on Brock Lesnar now that is he officially staying with the WWE for another 3 years. Unfortunately, I don’t see them keeping the title on him as they seem pretty dead set on pushing Reigns right now. It’s really too bad because a long title reign for Brock that leads into WrestleMania 32 would be even bigger, especially when you’re trying to fill a stadium bigger than Levi’s… As for the match, it would be the most technically sound main event but I do think it will be entertaining. It’s going to be hard trying to keep the crowd from turning on Reigns when all they want to do is to cheer the bad ass. Could Rollins cash in after the main event? Possibly. But I think they would save that for the night after on RAW.
Great Puma: Brock Lesnar. There’s just no way they’re going to put the title on Reigns after the unanimous reaction to clips of him at the Hall of Fame. Brock needs to leave Mania with the belt. I almost feel like tomorrow’s RAW is an extension of Wrestlemania and that’s where we’re going to see Seth Rollins cash in.

Sting vs. Triple H
Great Puma: Sting. These two really don’t have to do much, but I have faith in them to use their decades of experience to give us a more than memorable match. I actually look forward to seeing how they get the crowd in the palms of their hands with just pure wrestling psychology and heart. All we need to see are both of their finishers, HHH in a Scorpion Deathlock, the sledgehammer, the bat, and Sting winning and taking his final bow. I can’t wait to give Sting a standing ovation.
Mascara De Fuego: Sting. This match could either be pretty good or fall flat on its face. It’s going to be up to Hunter to do a little bit of carrying for Sting. It’s had the best of this Mania’s build up but it’s tough call if it will actually live up to the hype it got.

Bray Wyatt vs. The Undertaker
Mascara De Fuego: Bray Wyatt. Oh man… Personally I think this situation is best laid out of Wyatt wins this. Without the streak, what’s there really for Undertaker to gain? Nothing, except possibly doing a “losing streak” angle. No matter who walks out of the main event with the title, its important to keep Wyatt strong because after Rollins and Rusev he’s the next biggest heel which they desperately need. The match might be better than last years but I wont be surprised if it isn’t.
Great Puma: Taker. As much as Bray deserves this match since he single-handedly promoted it, people just want Undertaker to win. Taker is the last iconic wrestler of his era and if he’s only going to wrestle once a year, he better win it so us fans in attendance can go home feeling good about our lives.

Paige & AJ Lee vs. The Bella’s
Great Puma: Paige & AJ Lee. That’s all I want.
Mascara De Fuego: Bella’s. That’s all I got.

Randy Orton vs. Seth Rollins
Mascara De Fuego: Orton. Rollins will lose this match because the time is approaching when they will put the title on him and they love booking shit like then when people are about to win big. This will be the sleeper match of the card. Although when all is said and done, I feel it will be forgotten in time like most of Orton’s WrestleMania matches…
Great Puma: Orton. Rollins doesn’t need this win but there’s no doubt that this just might be the sleeper match of Wrestlemania. I hope Rollins kicks out and after an amazing RKO out of nowhere but actually gets pinned via a technical roll up. Orton + Scientific Wrestler = magic.

United States Championship Match
Rusev vs. John Cena
Great Puma: John Cena. Yeap. Let’s make the US Title mean something again and have Cena go SUPER CENA on everybody who gets in his way. But oh wait – Cena gets destroyed by SAMOA FUCKIN’ JOE at the post-Mania RAW. Okay, that’s wishful thinking but that’s what should really happen.
Mascara De Fuego: Cena. I do hope Cena wins the United States Title… anything to keep him out of the main event. Let him have a run with this title and take on the likes of Rusev and…. uh… um… yeah, I guess there really isn’t a lot of “contenders” for the US Title… I guess if you count Jack Swagger who’s been beat by Rusev close to one million and a half times… The match was decent last time, it should be again this time.

Intercontinental Championship Ladder Match
Bad News Barrett vs. R-Truth vs. Dean Ambrose vs. Luke Harper vs. Dolph Ziggler vs. Daniel Bryan vs. Stardust
Mascara De Fuego: Ambrose. Christ this has been a crappy build up, treating the IC Title like the Hot Potato Championship… At the end of the day, this will be the match to beat on this show. It could have been a basic build up on why each guy wanted the title but instead they went the version that needed a Lo-Jack to keep track of who had the belt. The one guy I think is wasted in this match is Daniel Bryan. I would almost put the title on him just to save a little face in the fact that he is not in the main event picture. But ultimately, I think they will put the title on the person who started all of the “hot potato’ing”, Dean Ambrose. I’m looking forward to this match the most.
Great Puma: Daniel Bryan. My heart says Daniel Bryan, but my brain says Dean Ambrose. If Daniel Bryan wins, we’ll probably get a heart-warming “Crusher” or “Connor” chant throughout the whole arena. After Daniel Bryan’s speech at the Hall of Fame I almost don’t see how the WWE can’t book Bryan to win. Do it for Crusher Connor dammit.

Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal
Great Puma: MIZdow. All I really want to see is Hideo Itami pull off the original GTS on somebody or maybe a few people. Damian MIZdow is the only person that WWE fans (no, I ain’t buying in to using “universe”) have connected to. MIZdow throwing The Miz over the top rope will be the perfect Wrestlemania moment.
Mascara De Fuego: MIZdow. The only angle of notice in this entire battle royal is the relationship being The Miz and his former “stunt double”, not “personal assistant” Damien San(MIZ)dow. This should be the focal point of this match where it comes down to these two have to fight it out for the Andre Trophy. Levi Stadium will lose their shit if/when MIZdow throws over The Miz to win. Other than that, unless we’re getting a surprise entrant, its the only scenario that makes sense.

WWE Tag Team Championship Fatal Four-Way Match
Tyson Kidd & Cesaro vs. The New Day vs. Los Matadores vs. The Usos
Mascara De Fuego: Kidd & Cesaro. It’s too bad this is the match that will end up on the pre-show but if they are looking to get some decent time for this match, its probably best where it’s at. I will be a hot opener for the show for sure. I see the champs retaining big in this one.
Great Puma: Kidd & Cesaro. I expect all the wrestlers here to do their best and cram in some interesting moments in the short time that their going to be given. I hope Kofi gets to do something memorable because he been lost in the midcard for what seems like an eternity. A Kidd & Cesaro win here will make most of the hardcore WWE fan base happy. Go Kofi Go.

5 Moments We Don’t Want to See at Wrestlemania 28

March 26, 2012

photo from wwe.com

1. Miz interferes in the Rock vs. Cena match

Great Puma: The last thing we need in this feud is a dirty finish. A Miz run-in would allude to a Rock vs. Cena rematch at Survivor Series or at Wrestlemania 29 in New Jersey, which is something I really don’t want to see. Rock needs to pin Cena clean in his hometown. End of story. I don’t buy the whole notion that the Rock needs to put Cena over. Cena may have been the man in the WWE for the past 7 years or so but he doesn’t come close to the Rock when it comes to worldwide cross over appeal. To be the man in the attitude era was a lot harder than being the top guy in the last decade. I just say “Stone Cold Steve Austin” to counter any post-attitude era arguments.

Mascara De Fuego: No, no, NO! I know this has been rumored but Miz needs to keep up out of this match. I want this to go without a hitch and with Rock going over. The Miz getting involved isn’t going to do anything for anyone. If he does get involved what’s that going to lead to? Another Rock vs. Cena match? No thanks, I want this to be the FIRST and the LAST. A Rock vs. Miz match? Why? Who would give a crap about that!? Miz just needs to stick with NOT being at Mania and using that to climb back up the card instead of interjecting himself or bitching about that fact.
