CM Punk’s Eddie Guerrero Tribute

September 25, 2011

I first saw this beautiful story on wrestlinginc.com. CM Punk grabbed the mic in front of the El Paso, Texas crowd this weekend and gave this touching tribute to Eddie Guerrero.

CM Punk gave props the El Paso crowd and told them how much the locker room appreciates all their chants. He then said he was lucky to have the opportunity to wrestle in front of them and to have known Eddie Guerrero and to call him ‘friend.’ Here are some excerpts from his moving speech:

“We all lose people who we care about. That we can all share in common. When I think of El Paso I think of one man. (Huge “EDDIE” chants)

“Nobody ever really dies as long as the people who he or she touched continue to spread their legacy and preached what they preached.”

“I miss Eddie Guerrero. Eddie Guerrero was a great man. So right now I don’t want to hear the name “CM Punk.” You know the name I want to hear.” (The crowd chants “EDDIE” as CM Punk walks out.)

Smackdown Thoughts & Review [9. 23. 11]

September 23, 2011

For a moment or two I thought I was back in time watching Superstars of Wrestling with squash match after squash match. The only thing missing was Mean Gene and the split corner promos that appeared during wrestler entrances. Oh how I miss those days.

There were some good things in this episode though. Kaitlyn and AJ looked amazing, and Cody bled like a stuck pig even though they didn’t give you a good angle of it. Mark Henry continued to prove that he’s also a rising, major pro wrestling star that doesn’t make his name off of dropping pipebombs. All this happened on top of Daniel Bryan wrestling!

CM Punk says Triple H “just doesn’t get it.”

September 22, 2011

From mmafighting.com

Two of my favorite industry people, not named Paul Heyman, got together and discussed all things MMA and it’s effect on the sports entertainment business. CM Punk visited Arial Helwani’s MMA Hour show this week and some interesting tidbits were dropped. Here’s what CM Punk had to say about Triple H’s recent statement about how the UFC has to evolve:

“Triple H just doesn’t get mixed martial arts. he doesn’t watch it either. Saying the UFC needs to evolve, I guess he’s not wrong, but I think he’s missing the picture that UFC is evolving.”

The interview is twenty minutes well spent and is available right after the jump.
