Event: Survivor Series 2011

Where: Madison Square Garden

Scheduled Matches:

  • John Cena & The Rock defeat The Miz & R-Truth
  • Big Show defeats World Heavyweight Champion Mark Henry via DQ
  • CM Punk submits Alberto Del Rio and wins the WWE Championship
  • Team Barrett defeats Team Orton (Traditional Survivor Series Elimination Tag Team Match)
  • United States Champion Dolph Ziggler defeated John Morrison
  • Divas Champion Beth Phoenix defeats Eve (Lumberjill Match)

John Laurinaitis comes out and says it’s his tenth anniversary working for the ‘E. The crowd didn’t give a shit.

1. United States Champion Dolph Ziggler pins John Morrison via the Zig Zag

Huge “We want Ryder” chant from the raucous MSG crowd!

Great Puma: Really fun opener. Morrison and Ziggler brought the best out of each other. The counters by both men were insane. Big ups to the MSG crowd for the Ryder love.

Mascara de Fuego: Solid opener here. These dudes must have gotten a pep talk in the back before the show!

After the match, Zack Ryder runs in to a CM Punk in Chicago-ish pop and gives Ziggler the Rough Rider.

Divas Champion Beth Phoenix pins Eve via off the top Glam Slam

Mascara de Fuego: Wow much better than expected and they kept the Jill’s interference to a minimum. They must have gotten the pep talk too.

Great Puma: Wow. 2 for 2 as far as good matches are concerned. The ladies started off a little shaky but it flowed nicely after that. Eve pulled out some nice attacks and Beth held it down as she always does. Watch this for the finish alone. Good stuff.

The Rock cuts a promo and mentions his history in Madison Square Garden. He goes from his experience as a five-year old watching his grandfather to his debut. He mentions “WWF” and the ‘F’ got edited out. Wow.

Team Barrett defeats Team Orton (Traditional Survivor Series Elimination Tag Team Match)

  • Orton eliminates Ziggler.
  • Sin Cara Chew Botch-a injures his leg and gets stretchered out. Huge Ryder chant.
  • Chew Botch-a is eliminated because he can’t continue.
  • Cody elimates Mason Ryan.
  • Wade Barrett takes out Kofi with Wasteland.
  • Sheamus gets DQ’ed and elimated himself. It’s now Swagger, Cody, Hunico and Wade vs. Randy Orton.
  • Orton pins and eliminates Swagger after an illegal Brogue Kick from Sheamus.
  • Orton RKO’s a mid-air Hunico off  a springboard to get the elimination.
  • Orton RKO’s Cody but is caught and dropped in a Wasteland from Wade Barrett for the loss.

Great Puma: The match went awkward for a little while after Sin Cara got injured. However, it picked up a lot of steam and finished strong. Good match overall.

Mascara de Fuego: Solid Survivor Series match (except for the Sin Cara botch). Glad Cody & Barrett got the rub.

Big Show defeats World Heavyweight Champion Mark Henry via DQ (kick to the groin)

Mascara de Fuego: Really good big man match here. I know the crowd was shitting on it for a second but they were quickly turned with Henry taking Show through the barricade and with Show’s massive elbow drop from the top. These two are really showing that big men can deliver. The feud continues!

Great Puma: First match I’ve ever seen that pulled out both a “BORING” chant and a “HOLY SHIT” chant. I enjoyed it. Big ups to the Big Show for giving us another highlight for months to come.

CM Punk submits Alberto Del Rio via Anaconda Vice and is the new WWE Champion

CM Punk has Howard Finkle introduce him to the ring. Wow. Awesome moment. HUGE “HOWARD FINKLE” chant.

Great Puma: Amazing match. Kudos to whoever came up with the idea for Howard Finkle to introduce Punk. The counters at the end were off the charts and the story of Del Rio working over Punk’s arm was executed perfectly. Skip to this match if you’re catching the PPV later.

Mascara de Fuego: Yet another solid match tonight! Del Rio and Punk are making magic together and they need to juice this shit. I think it took them a while to find their stride but they’ve found it. Good shit here only made better by New York City.

They show a very in-depth promo for an upcoming Stone Cold DVD release.

John Cena & The Rock defeat The Miz & R-Truth via Rock Bottom on The Miz

The Rock comes out last…as it should be.

Great Puma: Excellent show put on by the Rock. He opened with textbook armdrags and a beautiful La Magistral roll up of all moves. It’s apparent that Rock is miles ahead of Cena as far as legacies are concerned. A great match to end a great pay per view. We haven’t been kind to the WWE booking team lately but this pay per view more than delivered the goods.

Mascara de Fuego: Good match, the crowd loved every moment of the Rock in the ring. Miz and Truth did a good job carrying Cena during the match. Good shit but I think it could have been great shit with a better build. This definitely made Cena seem bush league which only makes sense if they end up turning his ass. He was a 2nd class citizen in this one. The end was a little anticlimactic.
