WWE Hell in a Cell Predictions & Preview

WWE Title Hell in a Cell Match

WWE Champion CM Punk vs. Ryback

Mascara De Fuego: no contest. I’ve thought about this match a lot because for the first time in a long time the WWE has painted itself into a corner. Right now is not the right time to take the title off of Punk, that needs to happen at the Royal Rumble against the Rock. Now, I’d rather see this match at WrestleMania but that’s a post for another day. Ryback has been getting a good push but I don’t think it’s the right time to put the title on him but mostly because it complicates the main event title through the Royal Rumble. Yes, you could technically take the title off of him in a month or two after Hell in a Cell but what’s that going to do for his push? Right now, Ryback going undefeated into WrestleMania is more important than a short title run. At that point put the World Title on him and let him have a decent run. So what do you do with this match on Sunday!? That is a really good question! Currently my favorite scenario is one I’ve heard passed around which is, Brock Lesnar comes in to help Punk. Both double team Ryback until Cena makes the save and sets up the Ryback & Cena vs. Lesnar & Punk at the Survivor Series. Now as much as I would love to see that match next month I don’t want to see a no contest on this ppv, I just don’t see any way around it at this point…

Great Puma: Ryback. The WWE jumps the gun on everything and this will be no exception. Does the WWE have a history of creating slow builds that lead to great matches that produce great moments? Not lately. They ruined CM Punk’s voice of the voiceless storyline and they quickly derailed AJ’s sudden popularity. Ryback is no exception, and I think Ryback will be the new WWE Champion on Sunday. However, Ryback does need to lose the title to Punk before Punk’s match with the Rock at the Royal Rumble. We’ll have to stay tuned to see how the WWE is going to keep Ryback strong and get CM Punk the WWE title back.

World Heavyweight Title Match

World Champion Sheamus vs. The Big Show

Great Puma: The Big Show. Ziggler then cashes in and wins the title from the Big Show. The Big Show is a company man and I’m positive he wouldn’t mind the WWE slapping another super short title reign to his resume. A Dolph Ziggler title reign coupled with Vicky Guerrero being the head lady in charge at Raw should lead to some interesting and entertaining television.

Mascara De Fuego: Sheamus… then Dolph Ziggler. This title need to come off Sheamus already. The guys title run is cold and this “goofy-fella” shit he’s been doing lately is killing him off. The WWE needs to realize that not everyone needs to be jokey-silly-stupid John Cena. Dudes, like Sheamus and Orton are just best kept far away from the comedy. They can still be a meaner character without going heel. I have liked Show playing more of a serious roll. They go back and forth with him so much its kind of stupid. He’s like the WWE’s version of Michael P.S. Hayes, that guy was always changing which side of the fence he was on back in the day. At this point in his career, he can leave the “fun loving” bullshit to someone else. He’s one of the last older guys around from when wrestling was hot, keep his ass serious and as a threat to everyone on the roster.  He can be your top attraction in the vein of the Undertaker since it looks like his WrestleMania’s might be good and done. So why wouldn’t they just put the title on Show right now? Because Smackdown needs a kick in the ass in their main event and I think having Ziggler cash in now would be a good move. I have wanted him to cash for a while but they keep having him lose, taking the steam out of him. This time for a change for Ziggler. With Vicki now “running RAW”, Ziggler can go on without her. This relationship has run its course and its time to break it up. The next couple of months can be a lot more interesting on Smackdown with Ziggler on top and Sheamus contending. Plus the match quality will dramatically improve.

Intercontinental Title Match

Intercontinental Champion Kofi Kingston vs. The Miz

Great Puma: Kofi Kingston. Kofi deserves this after spending almost a year in tag team purgatory with R-Truth. The crowd is always behind Kofi no matter how many times he loses to the WWE front office favorites. Perhaps this a six month experiment for the WWE to decide whether or not to they are going to place Kofi into the upper echelon.

Mascara De Fuego: Kofi. Looks like the WWE is getting behind Kofi… again. Honestly, I think this ship has passed and Kofi’s just going to be mid card por vida. I like Kofi but I don’t think they really do so they just wont ever put faith in him. Although Miz has been floating around lately I think they would get more serious with him than Kofi. Kofi gets another win on Sunday which spins him off Miz while they’ll find mid-main event spot for Miz.

WWE Tag Team Title Match

WWE Tag Team Champions Team Hell No vs. Rhodes Scholars

Great Puma: Team Hell No. Daniel Bryan and Kane are the hottest thing on WWE television. The WWE is going to ride the Team Hell No train as much as they’re going to ride the Ryback train. This should lead to new ‘super’ tag teams being formed or perhaps the establish the veteran tag teams to step up their game and make themselves worthy and compelling threats to Team Hell No’s title reign.

Mascara De Fuego: Team Hell No. By far my favorite thing in the WWE is Team Hell No (although that was some stupid backstage shit on Monday.) I really glad they are pushing the tag team division and I think THN was the right team to do this with. Kane and Bryan have been working really well together, keeping the tag titles more alive than it has been in over 5 years. There have been some teams put together to compete in this new revised division and Rhodes & Sandow has been the other stronge team so it was only natural this would lead to them winning the tournament finals. This will probably be the most entertaining thing for me on this card. You can get a few comedy spots in and still keep the match high paced. I think this will begin the feud for these two teams so I don’t think they will start that with a title change.

WWE Diva’s Title Match Diva’s Champion Eve Torres vs. Kaitlyn vs. Layla

Mascara De Fuego: Eve. That’s all I got.

Great Puma: Layla. Because Kaitlyn is still a little too green to hold the title.

Randy Orton vs. Alberto Del Rio

Mascara De Fuego:  Orton. Del Rio has been carrying the load of this feud while Orton’s been off making movies again. This should be a good match on the card but I think I’m ready for something new between the two. Not sure what that is exactly but I think this feud needs a kick in the ass again. Both seem to be floundering lately and moving them around to another show isn’t going to help. Maybe its time for a tag team scenario with Del Rio (although not sure who’d they pair with him) or maybe have him run a stable? Orton on the other hand, maybe its time for that heel turn. This guy just doesn’t work for me as a good guy.

Great Puma: Alberto Del Rio. Why would they not create another main event star? Orton winning would further perpetuate the idea that the main event should only consist of Cena, Orton, and Sheamus. It’s a boring world if you know that anybody else just isn’t worthy enough to co-headline or headline a WWE pay per view. The best way to make great heroes is for them to have great villains to fight against. Right now, the only great main event villains are CM Punk and Brock Lesnar.

Smackdown Thoughts & Review [October 26, 2012]

October 27, 2012

This week’s episode should have been called Talking Smack-down. That being said, Team Hell No and Team Rhode Scholars carried the show.
