07-19-15 WWE Battleground Thoughts…

July 20, 2015

Didn’t give a flying fuck about R-Truth vs. King Barrett. Seriously, enough of this shit.

I thought the same shit about Orton vs. Sheamus although St. Louis thought differently since Orton is from there. The RKO to Sheamus was anticlimatic. A bad “out of nowhere”.

The tag team title match between the Prime Time Players taking on The New Day was decent.

Surprised how much time Reigns and Wyatt got but I was kind of suprised at this match. It was good and it seemed the crowd was into it.

The diva’s triple threat with Charlotte, Sasha and Brie was good. Glad they kept Brie to a minimum in this one. I feared they would give her the match but luckily it was Flair who got the submission victory.

I thought the Cena and Owens match was match of the night for sure. I was more of a fan of the first match still. I think it would have made more sense to have Owens pinned and not tapped out if you were going to have him lose. Should have saved the tap out. Interesting choice not to put the title on Owens, believe it or not I’m ok with it soley for Open Challenge matches. What to do with Owens now though..?

Brock vs. Rollins was going pretty well until they did the Undertaker spot… Yeah, the crowd loved it but 1-You just turned Brock heel (no one is booing Taker) a waste when he had recently turned face. 2-Taker just comes off old and bitter for losing at Mania and if he is coming to the aid of his brother who’s been workinng for the Authority for a few years now doesn’t that make him guilty by proxy? 3-Brock losing to Taker at SummerSlam does NOTHING for Brock who should be kept strong. Personally, I hated this. Lame ending, she show was cut off 15 minutes short. The match barely got any legs before this shit.

Overall an ok show with another good Cena/Owens match.

10-06-13 WWE Battleground

October 6, 2013
Pre Show
-Miz, Titus O’Neil and Tensai join Josh Mathews on the Battleground panel for tonight. Tensai’s looks like someones lawyer or accountant.
Dolph Ziggler vs. Damien Sandow
-fast paced match from the get go which got a lot of time. Ziggler got the clean pin after the zig zag. good stuff start.
Winner: Ziggler
-El Torito hits on Renee Young in the back… fucking awkward.
main show
Hardcore Rules
World Champion Alberto Del Rio vs. Rob Van Dam
-not long before a chair gets used in this one setting up a tornado DDT by RVD for a 2 count. Later on in the match ladders and trash cans get used, its like a WWE check list for hardcore matches. Ricardo did get involved during the Del Rio arm bar on RVD. Both ADR and double R have a stare down before RR uses a bucket on Alberto before he got beat up. STIFF spot when RVD hit the 5 star off the ring apron onto ADR who had a ladder over top of him. Del Rio then used a chair on RVD’s arm as leverage on the arm bar for the win.
Winner: Del Rio
-in the back Team We The People cut a promo on cheering for your home town. Hey remember Jack Swagger? where did he go…. oh wait.
Real American’s w/Zeb Colter vs. Santino & Great Khali w/Hornswoggle
-slow paced match, crowd kind off out of it until the America’s corner Santino…. yeah it was Khali who got the hot tag… Holy shit moment… Cesaro gets the Cesaro Swing on Khali for the win after the pin, FUCK!!! See that shit!
Winner: Real American’s
Intercontinental Champion Curtis Axel w/Paul Heyman vs. R-Truth
-I don’t care about this match. fuck this went longer than it needed too… Hennig gets the neck swing thing for the pin.
Winner: Axel
Brie Bella w/Nikki vs. Diva’s Champion AJ Lee w/Tamina
-AJ’s facials are almost giving away that she’ losing the title tonight. Mid match Tamina jumped Nikki causing the distraction for the role up and the pin.
Winner: AJ
-Rhodes Family get a backstage promo with Renee. Goldust’s paint tonight is dope he looks like Darth Maul. Oh shit did Cody just claim half Cuban!?! oh fuck!
The Shield vs. The Rhodes Family
-I was really into this match, such a good build and story. Match was text book tag team wresting building up to a couple of hot tags. Dusty even got the bionic elbow on Ambrose which set up a DOPE crossroads on Rollins by Cody for the win. Match of the night! The Rhodes get met on the stage by roster and legends.
Winner: Cody & Goldust
Kofi Kingston vs. Bray Wyatt w/the family
-slow paced to start with sent the crowd back to sleep until mid match where the paced picked up. Kofi gets caught in the sister Abigail for the pin. He takes a beating after the match and gets a promo cut on him by Wyatt. Match did what it was suppose to for Bray.
Winner: Wyatt
CM Punk vs. Ryback w/Paul Heyman
-slow paced match with Ryback dominating most of it. Punk had a brief come back which Heyman stopped by cutting a promo during it. this one ended with Punk getting a low blow on Ryback behind the refs back… anticlimactic
Winner: Punk
WWE Championship Match
Daniel Bryan vs. Randy Orton
-oh fuck the feed goes out! looks like there was a power outage in Buffalo so luckily they didn’ start the match yet. well hopefully that wakes the crowd up. Match finally gets going, a lot of back and forth. Great forearm exchange before Bryan takes a suplex to the outside. GREAT series of drop kicks by Bryan from corner to corner. Orton finally ends up in the YES lock when Big Show comes out, pulls the ref out and KO’s Daniel Bryan…. Scott Armstrong then walks down to make the count when Big Show then pulls Scott out an KO’s him. Show then gets jaw jacked by Orton before he gets knocked out… Big Show then celebrates while Brad Maddox watches on… show ends…?!?!?!
Winner: no contest, what the fuck.
-worst ppv of the year.
