Peta supports Danielson!

Dear Mr. McMahon,
On behalf of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) and the
WWE fans among our more than 2 million members and supporters, I’m
writing to toss our name into the ring as yet another proponent of the push to
bring back Daniel Bryan (Bryan Danielson). I might not personally carry the
same clout as other Bryan supporters like John Cena or Shawn Michaels
(although I do consider myself “The Showstopper of PETA”), but I am, along
with many of my colleagues, a huge Daniel Bryan fan, not only because he
humiliated the Miz and Michael Cole a few weeks back on Raw but also
because he’s vegan.
Lots of athletes, including baseball slugger Prince Fielder, the NBA’s Raja
Bell, MMA fighters K.J. Noons and Mac Danzig, and Olympic Legend Carl
Lewis, show that vegetarians often leave meat-eaters in the dust, gnawing on
their greasy chicken wings as they wonder what hit them. But Bryan represents
the quintessential vegan badass. He knows that unlike WWE superstars,
animals beaten to a pulp by the meat industry don’t want to be there. The worst
Hell in a Cell match is nothing compared to what animals in slaughterhouses
go through, such as having their throats cut and being scalded alive and
dismembered, often while still conscious. Even Mick Foley couldn’t withstand
that kind of abuse. Just by being vegan, Bryan saves more than 100 animals a
year, a feat far more impressive than any of Jack Swagger’s
“accomplishments.” Savvy athletes go vegan for the health benefits, too, as
they slash their risk of heart disease, cancer, and diabetes.
So what do you say, Mr. McMahon? Bring back Bryan and let him prove that
he belongs. And maybe there could even be a storyline romance between
Bryan and the gorgeous vegan diva Tiffany! (Who, in your PETA fans’
opinion, deserves another shot at Layla.)
Sincerely,
Dan Shannon
Director

FATAL 4 WAY PREDICTIONS

June 20, 2010

Fatal 4 Way for the WWE Championship
Cena vs. Orton vs. Sheamus vs. Edge

Great Puma: Common sense says Orton takes it but I think they’ll give it to Edge so he can lose it to Orton in a one on one match at Summerslam.

Mascara De Fuego: I don’t see why Cena wouldn’t retain the Title unless its to build the NXT angle more. I would like to see Edge take it like you said to build up the feud with Orton. Should be a good match for the most part I think.
Fatal 4 Way for the World Championship
Swagger vs. Mysterio vs. Punk vs. Big Show

Great Puma: I’d like to see Swagger get a long title run so I’ll go with Swagger. Punk is a close second but it’s harder for S.E.S. to get a cheap victory since there are too many combatants in the ring. Usually, faces win titles in singles matches, in my opinion, so I don’t think Mysterio or Big Show will get the duke.

Mascara De Fuego: Swagger’s my pick too. Similar to the WWE Title match, I don’t see why they would take the title off of Swagger right now, the guy is working it. I’m looking forward to this match over the other Title match and hope that it will be match of the night with four different styles of wrestlers.

United States Champion The Miz vs. R-Truth

Great Puma: One day I wish the WWE will give Truth the respect and recognition he deserves. The Miz really doesn’t need another lengthy title run. I feel like he’s ready for bigger and better things. Truth, on the other hand, needs at least one solid run with a belt just to establish solid footing in the upper echelon of the WWE. After all, R-Truth is a former NWA World Heavyweight Champion.

Mascara De Fuego: I’m going with The Miz. Should be a good match but I don’t see why they’d take the title off of Miz just after winning it. I think Truth should have had a longer title run but it is the WWE…

Fatal 4 Way for the Diva’s Championship
Eve vs. Gail Kim vs. Maryse vs. Alicia Fox

Great Puma: I don’t see Eve losing the belt for a while. It seems like she’s gaining steam in her popularity without the WWE pushing her down our throats. Okay, well, maybe just a little bit.

Mascara De Fuego: I don’t care, if I have to choose someone, Maryse. She’s the only believable heel they have right now.

Pro Wrestling loses Trent Acid. RIP.

June 18, 2010

Michael “Trent Acid” Verdi
November 12, 1980 – June 18, 2010 (aged 29)

Trent Acid has passed away.

We had the privilege of seeing Trent Acid wrestle in Los Angeles years ago in a short-lived indy promotion at the El Rey theater.  It was Trent and Ruckus and I’m pretty sure they had the match of the night in my opinion.

Trent Acid, in his prime, was the heart and soul CZW.   He was a great striker, and possessed great ring psychology in an era where nonsensical high-spots and staple gunning dollar bills to your face were the trendy thing to do.  He could definitely cut a promo and had the looks that brought the females to the arena.  Trent Acid, FighterHayabusa.com and your fans will miss you.  Rest in peace.

Jim Ross on Bryan Danielson, Chuck Liddell and more

June 14, 2010

Jim Ross discusses the great career of Chuck Liddell, the odd termination of Daniel Bryan, the legacy of Grizzly Smith and so much in his latest blog entry.  Here’s an excerpt:

On Chuck Liddell

Watching Chuck, a man I have never met but feel like I know, get KO’ed was like watching my boyhood hero Mickey Mantle not be able to beat out a routine infield hit during the later days of the career of the fabled New York Yankee and #7. It was sad. That was not the memory that I wanted to remember my fellow Oklahoman. I wanted to remember the magnificent switch hitter hitting towering home runs just like I want to remember Chuck Liddell knocking people out with Government Mule toughness and tenacity.
