Night of Champions [Live Updates]

September 19, 2010

Keep refreshing every 15 minutes or so as we give you live updates from WWE’s Night of Champions!

1. Dolph Ziggler retains his IC Title via the Zig Zag.

Mascara De Fuego: Good match, the crowd was into it in some spots. I hope this feud is over now I am really over it. ha

Great Puma: Good curtain jerker.  Love the Ranhei and sleeper reversal by Kofi.  Nice finish with Kofi getting caught up in the ropes after a missed Trouble in Paradise.

Night of Champions Predictions

September 19, 2010

The following predictions were taken from our latest Hayabusa Wrap Up.

Divas and Women’s Championship Unification Lumberjill Match
Women’s Champion Michelle McCool vs. Diva’s Champion Melina

Great Puma: They like to send the crowd home happy and Melina just got back so my brain wants to go with Melina but my gut is telling LayCool since they’re the most popular divas right now. I’ll say Melina for the hell of it.

Mascara De Fuego: I don’t know about this match. The only person that deserves this type of win out of these three is Melina although I would have preferred someone like Beth Phoenix in this match. I could totally see them going with McCool in the match thus giving her, her own belt so they would each have a part of the Unified Titles. So I guess that’s my pick.

Hayabusa Wrap Up

September 15, 2010

Mascara De Fuego: Welcome to another edition of the Hayabusa Wrap Up, how goes it Puma?

Great Puma: It goes well.  HHH hasn’t returned to ruin CM Punk or Alberto Del Rio’s careers so I think things are a-okay!

Mascara De Fuego: No shit! Lets start the petition to keep HHH off TV!

Mascara De Fuego: So it seems Matt Hardy to be in deep trouble.

Great Puma: Yeah but I think he’ll be fine in the long run.  He’s not losing it as much as Kevin Nash is at the moment.  He’s a good talent but I don’t think the WWE would miss him if he were to be future endeavored and I don’t mean that in a ‘mean’ way.  I also don’t think a Hardy Boyz reunion in TNA would fair any better than Mr. Anderson or Team 3-D as far as the box office goes.

The Hayabusa Weekly Wrap Up [8.19.2010]

August 19, 2010

This week the two writers of FighterHayabusa went midnight bowling sporting matching yellow jerseys. After the bowling alley closed for the night, the guys went to Norms and discussed the world of pro wrestling. Here’s a transcript of that event:

Mascara De Fuego: WELCOME to another Hayabusa Wrap Up! How goes it Puma?

Great Puma: It goes well! HHH hasn’t returned yet so all is well in the world of pro wrestling as far as I’m concerned, brotherrr!

Mascara De Fuego: No HHH but it looks like we are headed to another Taker vs. Kane feud. oh well…

Great Puma: True…but I think Kane is finally going to go over. This may be the supernatural passing of the torch between the two WWE phenoms.

Mascara De Fuego:
Really? It would be awesome if that did happen but I don’t know if I have that much faith in the WWE to pull it off.

Great Puma: Well, if they can bring back Daniel F*ckin’ Bryan, the WWE can do anything! No Mark.

Mascara De Fuego: I will keep my fingers crossed then, so lets get to it…

Great Puma: While most folks seemed to crap on the undercard I liked Summerslam as a whole. Nothing was booked out of desperation and the outcomes made a lot of sense. Any pay per view that features 8 relatively unknown wrestlers in the main event gets a gold star in my book.

Mascara De Fuego: Agreed. I give the show a thumbs up. I think the build up to the show was awesome and the main event did the job to get Nexus over even if they did not win the match. Taker’s return was prediction but still exciting to watch.

Great Puma: I love that they sacrificed Kofi Kingston’s match with Dolph Ziggler to emphasize how powerful the Nexus is. It also added a possible encounter with Smackdown and the Nexus.

Mascara De Fuego: Yeah I think it was a good statement to start the show like that. I would like to see a Smackdown chapter of the Nexus but only if they can do it right.

Darren Young gets Booted from Nexus

Great Puma: I think it was an interesting move on their part. I would have rather put the Nexus over at Summerslam and kept them at 7 members strong for the Survivor Series.

Mascara De Fuego: I think they got rid of the wrong guy if they were going to get rid of someone. Slater should have gone. BUT! This does open up for possible Harris to take the 7th spot.

Great Puma: So how much is Husky Harris paying you to be his manager and cheerleader again?

Mascara De Fuego: He got The U.S. Express to sign a few things, what of it?

Great Puma: Just making sure you’re getting something in return, brother.

Mascara De Fuego: This masked reporter doesn’t work for free, that’s for sure! That brings us to our next topic…

NXT Season 2

Great Puma: I like this season a lot better than NXT season 1. I’m hoping they put McGillicutty over instead of Alex Riley. Riley doesn’t need to win this season of NXT and neither does Kaval. They already seem to have a following while McGillicutty doesn’t.

Mascara De Fuego:
I enjoyed this season more than season 1 as well but I wish they would get rid of the stupid challenges and find something better for these “future WWE superstars” to do. I think Hennig is solid in the ring but I do think he needs to step it up outside of it. Kaval’s rap was taking a chance and I think it paid off. I don’t think Hennig has taken any chances yet.

Great Puma: I can’t say enough about Kaval’s freestyle. He showed another side to his personality and it was refreshing as hell. Honestly, Kaval or Riley deserve to win the season but McGillicutty NEEDS the win the most.  Not to mention, I’m down with anybody who shells out a TNA diss. That was awesome.

Mascara De Fuego:
Yeah, I hate to say it… or actually I don’t but not only did I mark out, I rewound it and watched it again for Kaval’s diss on TNA.

The new WWE Tag Team Titles and the thought of just having one pair of belts

Great Puma: I think it’s good for the champions since they only have to deal with one pair when they’re traveling. As far as the design goes I think it’s okay. The whole Roman styling is a nice departure from the usual globe themes that we see on most title belts. For me, I’ll take any belt above that spinning abomination that was made for John Cena. I wish the design was a little more complex with some jewels to make it look more prestigious but not all belts can look like elaborate K-1 title belts.

Mascara De Fuego: I’m a little bummed to see the “Smackdown” Tag Titles get the boot and that fact that Smackdown won’t have their own individual titles but it does make sense. Seeing as Smackdown IS the only show with other tag teams they will need to spend sometime sending the Hart’s there to defend the titles. It’s an interesting design but its a little too simple and the belts don’t have the name plates on them which concerns me. But you are right, at least its not the spinner belt.

Great Puma: Yes, ANYTHING but a blinged-out spinner belt.

Mascara De Fuego: Do you think they will change out that damned spinner belt anytime soon? What do you think it will take for them to switch it out finally!!?

Great Puma: The spinner belt is going to stay until kids stop buying it. Period. That hurt me as I typed it. Damn.

Mascara De Fuego: God I hate that thing and I hope the right guy comes around soon where it makes sense to change it out. But I’m sure it cost enough for them to keep it around longer than they need to.

Paul Heyman’s Interview with Ariel Helwani

Great Puma: That was probably the biggest event in Pro Wrestling this week for me. That was better than any shoot interview Paul Heyman could have done. He displayed that he’s one of the greatest minds in the business and that he has the golden touch with anything he decides to do. As much as I want him to return to pro wrestling I look forward to seeing him succeed in whatever he pursues. If he works with MMA, I’m excited to see what he’s going to do in that business.

Mascara De Fuego: I think it’s the most insightful interview that anyone in the wrestling business could have gotten. I think Heyman is a genius in whatever he ends up working in but I think Heyman’s days in wrestling are FAR from over. I think with the right company, Heyman can pull off his vision of a half pro wrestling, half MMA company.

Great Puma: Very true. I also want to give serious props to Ariel Helwani for asking the hard questions and totally holding back from marking out big time (well…as much as he could). He approached Heyman with the same no-nonsense questions and cool demeanor that he does with people in the MMA world. Nothing like a great interview given by a true fan of the wrestling business.

Mascara De Fuego: A wrestling fan yes, but not a hardcore mark either which helped keep the interview on point and insightful.

Lance Cade Passes Away

Great Puma: Basically, all I have to say is just rest in peace, Lance Cade. Too much has already been said on his passing. Way too many notable people who make their money off the wrestling business love to air its dirty laundry. Chris Nowinski could have used a different approach to address the situation but what’s done is done. Hopefully, we won’t have to hear the news of a wrestler passing away again this year.

Mascara De Fuego: It’s a god damn shame that the guy was so young. I also hope we can get to the end of the year without another death.

Great Puma: Seriously.

Mascara De Fuego: And on that note we are at the end of another Hayabusa Wrap Up.

Great Puma: I’m out like Bobby Lashley haters!

Mascara De Fuego: I’m out like Darren Young… Until All Are One….

Summerslam Predictions

The Hayabusa Weekly Wrap Up [8.12.2010]

August 11, 2010

The two writers of FighterHayabusa were at their weekly knitting circle.  Between double seed stiches and purled ladder patterns, the two men discussed a myriad of topics in the realm of pro wrestling.  Here’s a transcript of that awesome exchange!

Mascara De Fuego: Welcome to Fighter Hayabusa’s Wrap Up, the Summer Slam edition! How goes it Puma? Had any out of body experiences lately?

Great Puma: Only when I’m watching Yo Gabba Gabba, brother!

Mascara De Fuego: SO Puma, before we get to our Summer Slam predictions lets get the bullshit out of the way!

TNA’s EV2.0 angle and pay per view mess from last weekend

Great Puma: I think the Dixie and the TNA powers that be need to move on before they sink any more time, money and energy into a product that is outdated and very very old. It peaks some interest but it’s not the kind of interest you want to build upon in the future. EV2.0 does NOT make new stars. It is only a trip down memory lane and that is how they should go about. A strong wrestling promotion should never be INVADED by a bunch of has-beens and rebels who are already way passed their prime.

I respect ECW and the people who have contributed to its legacy. However, I’ve already moved on and I don’t need to see it revived in vain and in a company that doesn’t deserve its presence and legacy.

Mascara De Fuego: This is painful. This makes WWE’s send off a few months ago of the ECW brand epic compared to what they did on Sunday. People tend to forget that at the time ECW was innovative because it was up “with the times”. All it is now is just a bunch of hardcore guys trying to do what they did years ago and it is just not working. TNA has wasted time and money to rush a pay per view that came off horrible and worst of all did NOTHING for TNA. ECW had its day in the sun but that day set along time ago.

TNA and its TNA Title Tournament

Mascara De Fuego: I think its just another ploy by TNA to get a quick ratings boost but I think its stupid to take the title off of RVD. If they think he is the reason for the bad ratings they are sadly mistaken as not even Jeff Hardy can save TNA right now.

Great Puma: I feel the same way. Did Angle’s climbing up the rankings storyline get trashed in the process? That was one of the few things that was actually working over there. Unless RVD requested this personally to take some time off (which I doubt), this is a horrible idea. I’m surprised they haven’t looked at the history of pro wrestlig and seen how hotshot booking is a bad idea 9 out of 10 times. It never benefits a promotion in the long run.

Mascara De Fuego: I wish I could get behind this storyline with Angle but its just making the entire top roster look weak because no one believes that Angle is actually going to lose a match, thus “retiring” from wrestling. This will obviously kill that story which once again means TNA has dropped the ball. It’s so surreal how bad this brand has gotten this year, taking so many steps back that they probably wont be able to recover.

Great Puma: Well it’s so bad that the WWE doesn’t seemed to phased at all by TNA’s blatant use of ECW the “Philadelphia Promotion”. You’d think they’d have a lawsuit in order.

Mascara De Fuego: TNA is so far behind the WWE right now, I don’t think they are phased by them. Hell, I think they feel more from ROH than TNA.

WWE signs ROH Champion Tyler Black

Great Puma: As you know from WrestleReunion I’m not the biggest Tyler Black fan. I think his ring-work is solid but I find myself twitching whenever he gets on the mic. I think it’s a good pickup and I think it’s important for them to have an IWC favorite on board for every NXT season. I’m sure he’ll be on NXT season 3 since Michael “Tool” Cole always needs someone to hate on. I’m hoping Tyler Black improves on his mic skills and takes the WWE by storm. Lord knows they need new faces and talent.

Mascara De Fuego: Yeah, we shall see. I am not impressed what they have done with former ROH Champions to this point and I don’t think Black is any different especially since he is not as solid as Lo-Ki or Danielson. Hopefully it works out for the guy but I not the biggest fan of his either.

Mascara De Fuego: Not a lot of matches announced so far.

Great Puma: True. But with a main event like Nexus vs Team WWE, the undercard can afford to be a little weak.

Mascara De Fuego: Seems like a throw back to days of old doesn’t it?

Great Puma: I’m looking forward to it. I’m hoping they put the Nexus over and through the atmosphere. 7 guys who have accomplished nothing are co-headlining a major pay per view. I think it’s the hottest angle we, the fans, have seen in a long time. The build up has been tremendous and I hope they make the match more about the WWE and not about Cena or any of the members of Team WWE.

Mascara De Fuego: I think it is extremely important that the Nexus gets over huge here. The WWE has finally woken up and realized that they NEED new stars and in a matter of months they took these rookies and turned them into a main event stable. I think its genius but it is important they survive on Sunday. Can they afford a few eliminations, sure. But I think it is key that Barrett, Sheffield and maybe one other guy survive and win the match.

Great Puma: Agreed. I’m sure the Nexus won’t win cleanly. I have a feeling the WWE team is eventually going to disintegrate and turn on each other. If they plant the seeds of a Jericho vs Edge feud for Wrestlemania 27 I will be a very happy wrestling mark.

Mascara De Fuego: I think the build up to this match has been great, even down to the final moments of this weeks RAW. If they could only pay this much attention to other angles…

Great Puma: They’ve done a pretty good job with Punk and Show. I’m not so keen with the direction the Vege-taker angle has taken. I want to see a Kane vs Undertaker feud as much as I wanted to see an ECW reunion PPV. I guess since I already saw one of those two things this year, Kane vs ‘Taker is gonna happen. DAMN IT!

Mascara De Fuego: Agreed. Taker vs. Kane for the millionth time is just as bad as Orton vs. Cena for the millionth time. There are so many guys on the roster for Taker to face. Shit, they’ve just scratched the surface on Punk vs. Taker. I guess the only thing good about Rey vs. Kane is that I guess Rey gets the title back on Sunday. I do hope the SES gets over strong. Losing a 3 on 1 match isn’t going to do shit to get this stable over.

Great Puma: True but with CM Punk’s injury I’m sure it’ll be more of Joseph Mathews and Luke doing the brunt of the work with Punk getting in some cheap shots. Hopefully I’m wrong and CM Punk’s elbow is healed enough so he can perform at full capacity. I’m good with either of the parties winning. Show and Punk are both capable of pulling off something amazing. I’m looking forward to that match as well.

Mascara De Fuego: What’s left on the card? Oh right, Orton vs. Sheamus. Eh, I don’t care either way and hope Miz cashes in on whoever wins.

Great Puma: True. I’d be surprised if they don’t have Miz cash in on Orton after Orton wins. I think that would be a great motivator for Orton to chase Miz and the title, which of course would be big business for the WWE. Since Orton’s character is still ‘rising’ in popularity I think it’s right for him to be in the chase right now instead of being the face of the company with the WWE title. Since the WWE is grooming Orton to be the next Stone Cold, I’d hold off a title run until Wrestlemania. I’m guessing Orton wins the Royal Rumble to set everything up.

Great Puma: Oh and what will Sheamus do in the meantime? I’m sure his buddy HHH will be ready to get in the ring after Linda McMahon wins the senate seat in November. The HHH vs Sheamus feud will live on.

Mascara De Fuego: I think Sheamus will end up being the 3rd person in the Orton vs. Miz feud until HHH McMahon gets back from his operation. I haven’t missed that dude at ALL and look forward to him taking MORE time to heal…

Great Puma: I actually think he’s taking time up to support Linda McMahon and her senate race. It doesn’t look good when your son-in-law is swinging sledgehammers at people.

Mascara De Fuego: and making dick jokes… sigh.

Ok I think that brings us to the end of another Wrap Up! Any last words Puma?

Great Puma: No last words for me, brother. I’m out like the love between @TNAnonymous and Dixie Carter!

Mascara De Fuego: Ok that will do it, I shall see you Saturday for the WWE Fan Axxess which we will be reporting on this weekend!  Until all are one!

The Hayabusa Weekly Wrap Up [7.21.2010]

July 21, 2010

The two writers of FighterHayabusa got together for a Michael Ironside marathon. 17 films, 34 hours later, and just 15 minutes into Major Payne, Puma and MDF decided to quit. They went to a local Norms and smashed atoms about Pro Wrestling over pancakes, huevos and sausage. This is a transcript of that magical event.

Hayabusa Weekly Wrap UP!

June 25, 2010

NXT? Fatal 4 Way?  Batista in MMA? All things the Haybusa guys cover this week!

June 20, 2010

Vince McMahon came out and informed the crowd that Bret Hart will not be at the PPV tonight.  They showed footage of the NXT rookies’ abuse of Bret Hart.

June 20, 2010

Fatal 4 Way for the WWE Championship
Cena vs. Orton vs. Sheamus vs. Edge

Great Puma: Common sense says Orton takes it but I think they’ll give it to Edge so he can lose it to Orton in a one on one match at Summerslam.

Mascara De Fuego: I don’t see why Cena wouldn’t retain the Title unless its to build the NXT angle more. I would like to see Edge take it like you said to build up the feud with Orton. Should be a good match for the most part I think.
Fatal 4 Way for the World Championship
Swagger vs. Mysterio vs. Punk vs. Big Show

Great Puma: I’d like to see Swagger get a long title run so I’ll go with Swagger. Punk is a close second but it’s harder for S.E.S. to get a cheap victory since there are too many combatants in the ring. Usually, faces win titles in singles matches, in my opinion, so I don’t think Mysterio or Big Show will get the duke.

Mascara De Fuego: Swagger’s my pick too. Similar to the WWE Title match, I don’t see why they would take the title off of Swagger right now, the guy is working it. I’m looking forward to this match over the other Title match and hope that it will be match of the night with four different styles of wrestlers.

United States Champion The Miz vs. R-Truth

Great Puma: One day I wish the WWE will give Truth the respect and recognition he deserves. The Miz really doesn’t need another lengthy title run. I feel like he’s ready for bigger and better things. Truth, on the other hand, needs at least one solid run with a belt just to establish solid footing in the upper echelon of the WWE. After all, R-Truth is a former NWA World Heavyweight Champion.

Mascara De Fuego: I’m going with The Miz. Should be a good match but I don’t see why they’d take the title off of Miz just after winning it. I think Truth should have had a longer title run but it is the WWE…

Fatal 4 Way for the Diva’s Championship
Eve vs. Gail Kim vs. Maryse vs. Alicia Fox

Great Puma: I don’t see Eve losing the belt for a while. It seems like she’s gaining steam in her popularity without the WWE pushing her down our throats. Okay, well, maybe just a little bit.

Mascara De Fuego: I don’t care, if I have to choose someone, Maryse. She’s the only believable heel they have right now.

These predictions were originally posted in this week’s Hayabusa Wrap Up.
