WrestleMania adds more matches!

I got this text while I was at work… let’s just go ahead and call this an Undertaker spoiler…

tardisTXT

-show starts off with a version of the old signature but its got the newer “classic” WWE logo and instead of saying World Wrestling Federation under the logo its got the Then. Now. Forever. tag line. Its still the old school voice saying the “symbol of excellence in sports entertainment”. Nice touch.

-All the graphics are retro… AND we get the Undertakers gongs right off the bat!!! Dude better come out looking old school… nope, dammit! He looks like a video game character with this jacket. He raised his arms and we get the WrestleMania 29 logo on the titantron basically signaling that he’s not missing this shit.

-We get a proper intro voiced by Mean Gene. We get hints of who’s going to be on the show tonight before we get the OLD school RAW theme with sirens included.

-Cole and Lawler are even old school with the yellow jacket for Cole and the red king outfit for Lawler.

-Punk and Paul Heyman are out next as they head to the ring. Punk gripes about not main eventing WrestleMania and blames the fans. He says he wont be at the show if he’s not the main event but then says what he just saw gives him purpose and he’s going to beat the Undertaker at WrestleMania. He brings up his streak and his own as we all predicted and how he’s got a new number for everyone, 20 and 1.

-He barely finishes when Randy Orton comes out…? He brings up beating Punk at Mania and having already facing Taker at Mania but as a rookie. Orton then asks the crowd what they want to see at WrestleMania… crowd preferred Orton.

-this then brings out The Big Show to plead his case on why he should take on Taker at Mania again. He claims he’s going to knock him out.

-Sheamus is out to say he’s never faced Taker which is why he should go to Mania.

-sort-of GM, Vicki is out to make a fatal 4 way and the winner gets the match against the Undertaker. I like this with these guys making a big deal of taking on the dead man.

-oh no point/counterpoint with Rock and Cena tonight…

-Ryback does the walk while they play the old school song over it, dope. I miss these old songs. So much better than the crap they use now.

-they are even using the old barricades at ringside and the refs are in the bowties.

United States Champion Antonio Cesaro vs. Ryback

-The champion gets no proper intro but a cut away promo where he yells in different languages. Decently paced match from the start with Ryback dominating for the most part as he over powered Cesaro. Cesaro did makes a comeback kicking Ryback off the ring apron and into the classing ring barricades. Closing segment of this match was DOPE! So Ryback goes for the meat hook clothesline when Cesaro hits a European forearm out of nowhere. Cesaro then goes for the neutralizer only to have Ryback power out and go right into the shell shock for the pin. Solid opener for tonight although I hate seeing Cesaro keep losing like this.

Winner: Ryback

-after the match Ryback leads the crowd in a feed me more chant. he only got one Goldbery chant.

-Mark Henry comes out before Ryback can leave. This leads to a brief stare down as they walk by each other. There’s a WrestleMania match, BOOM!

Mark Henry vs. Zack Ryder

-Well, I guess Ryder cant complain for once since he was on the show… Cole did bring up Zack’s recent bitching and not being at WrestleMania yet. This was a real short one.

Winner: Mark Henry

-old school video graphic for the fatal 4 way.

-Ziggler, AJ and Big E do the walk.

-Fandango premier is teased for tonight.

The Miz w/Ric Flair vs. Dolph Ziggler w/AJ & Big E Langston

-before the match Miz intros his “mentor” Ric Flair. Quick back and forth match. Miz gets a good pop when he stops Ziggler from doing the Flair strut. The Miz had a terrible Ric Flair Strut. Big E gets involved taking Miz down. This causes Flair to attack but Big E no sells it. Miz gets a baseball slide before avoiding a roll up and a figure four for the win. Ziggler is never getting a break…

Winner: Miz

-after the match Flair takes his phantom bump before dropping elbows on no one. Miz tries the strut again and its much worse… crowd is alive tonight.

-WWE Champion The Rock is out next for this thing with John Cena. SO glad not to see the spinner belt, this one is growing on me but its still not the shit. Rock chants right off the bat, this crowd is ON tonight. Rock’s got stories of his trips that lead him to the arena tonight, this finally led to FINALLY… apparently its been 10 years since he was last in Buffalo. Crowd is pro-Rock for sure. Cena then comes out, it’s a mixed bag for this nerd as usual. Cena says Rock never fails but he failed last year in their match last year at WrestleMania. This leads to a loud Cena sucks chant. He says that this failure fucking him up professionally and personally. Cena blames Rock for his collapse… uh… Cena says this is his shot at redemption and he’s not throwing this away. Rock says he’s happy to see this version of Cena because he is the guy he wanted at WrestleMania. Rock puts over Cena hard before saying no one had that passion… like the Rock. Rock says Cena isn’t getting redemption but he’s getting his ass kicked. Cena quotes Mike Tyson saying to be the greatest that ever lived, you have to beat everyone living. (good quote). Cena says he’s done in all in his career except for being Rock. Rock quotes Lance Armstrong before saying he was full of crap just like Cena! BAH! Rock says Cena thinks he can beat Rock but Rock knows he can beat Cena and he will beat him… again. Best fucking promo between these two! As far as I’m concerned this can be the only time these dudes are face to face until Mania because that was everything the last 2 years should have been. Solid.

Jack Swagger w/Zeb Colter vs. Hacksaw Jim Duggan w/Sgt. Slaughter & Dusty Rhodes

-Loud USA chant for Duggan. A lot of American’s in this match, isn’t this counterproductive to Colter’s message? Not long before Swagger uses the 2×4 on Duggan, Slaughter and Rhodes. Duggan takes the ankle lock while the ref tries to peel him off. Swagger stares at the WrestleMania sign before leaving. No fun time for the legends tonight.

Winner: Duggan by DQ

-Team Hell No do the walk while trying not to make eye contact, funny.

-Swagger is interviewed in the back by Josh. Before he can finish his sentence Alberto Del Rio attacks from behind and we get a tear apart.

-The Million Dollar Man is at ringside… apparently he’s in the corner of the PTP’s…!?

WWE Tag Team Champions Team Hell No vs. The Primetime Players

-yup, we’ve seen this one before and this one is no different. Chokeslam finished off Young. After the match DiBiase stuffs a 100 dollar bill in Young’s mouth. Bryan goes back and jacks that bill from Darren’s mouth! Haha

Winners: Team Hell No

-oh shit it’s the greatest Intercontinental Champion of all time is teased!!!

Tensai & Brodus Clay vs. 3MB

-Tensai has stopped trying to fight this off and is a track suit of his own. Before the Honky Tonk Man is introduced! Slater shuts down HTM before he can say anything. Honky listens to Slater and actually gets out of the ring, bummer. Tensai has new tights. McIntyre takes a quick roll up by Tensai for the win. They dance before the HTM stops them. His music plays and they dance to that instead.

Winner: Tensai & Clay

-Slater is back in and he takes the guitar shot to the head!!!

Fandango vs. Kofi Kingston

-Fandango and his dancer lady come out. he isn’t going to do shit until Justin Roberts can get his name right. Fandango isn’t wrestling tonight…

Winner: ???

-recap of Heyman, Vince, Brock and HHH leads to shaved head Mcgee to come to the ring. Telling you, without the hair he aint menacing. He builds himself up talking about when he thought it was over but he kept training. Crowd is dead. Apparently he was waiting for a reason and after Vince was lying in the hospital bed he found his reason. Long story short, its Brock. Funny it sounds more like HHH trying to convince himself more than us. He’s not digging deep for this promo folks, not good. He’s calling Brock out at WrestleMania so he doesn’t miss out on a big payday… sigh.

-Sheamus promo video package but wait its not for him its for the new Bret Hart DVD collection….

-recap of the Shield drama with Sheamus, Orton and Big Show from last Friday. This leads to a video by the Shield. The cut a promo on Sheamus and Orton and how they shouldn’t forget what they are dealing with now that they want to try to take on Taker. They also shit talk Big Show… looks like this is the 6 man for Mania. Good promo by them, digging what they’ve done with this group thus far.

Champion vs. Champion

Intercontinental Champion Wade Barrett vs. World Champion Alberto Del Rio w/Ricardo Rodriguez

-remember when champion vs. champion was a big deal… this was an afterthought here… during the match Swagger & Colter come out to watch. Good match, Del Rio’s float overs into the arm breaker are dope. He beats Wade with the submission.

Winner: Del Rio

-Colter and Swagger “we the people” video… even though we JUST saw these two… they should have spaced this out a little bit…

The New Age Outlaws vs. Primo & Epico w/Rosa

-Road dog does the usually shtick and the suck it gets a loud reaction. You still got it chant for the Outlaws. James doing the sell job into the hot tag to Gunn. He gets the fameasser for the win. Both looked pretty good still in the ring.

Winner: Outlaws

-its Mae Young’s 90th birthday, holy shit. There is a huge cake for Mae on the stage that’s surrounded by the WWE Superstars. Mean Gene is out and intros the oldest living member of the WWE, Mae Young. Gene then leads everyone in Happy Birthday before fucking CM Punk interrupts this! HA!! He and Paul pass these guys and is heading to the ring for the match.

Winner faces The Undertaker at WrestleMania

CM Punk w/Paul Heyman vs. The Big Show vs. Sheamus vs. Randy Orton

-Everyone takes their turn in the ring while switching off amongst themselves. Big Show is the most dominate in this one. The end sequence was Sheamus duck Big Show’s right hook to land a brogue kick, sending Show to the outside. Sheamus takes the RKO but Orton takes a kick to the head and a GTS to go to WrestleMania! Good match, not great but good.

Winner: Punk

-after the match Punk poses until Taker’s music hits again. He finally comes out to do a stare down followed by fire. Good stuff.

-overall, I thought this was a good show. Finally starting to move other WrestleMania matches which is good.

How about putting duct tape on Punks mouth when he comes to the ring? Fandango is just another blooming idiot. What’s his purpose?
