Fighter Hayabusa’s WrestleMania 28 Predictions

March 29, 2012

Singles Match
The Rock vs. John Cena

Mascara De Fuego’s Prediction: The Rock

What they will do: John Cena

What can be said about this match that hasn’t already been said? Some will say the buildup was on par and other will say that it was hit or miss. Regardless of how they’ve built this match up the important thing to remember is that they ACTUALLY built this match over the last year. The WWE has done something they have never done and announced Rock vs. Cena one year ago. Make no mistake about it, they wanted you to believe this IS a big deal… and it is. Both guys have represented the business at one time or another and are household names. This warranted that amount of time. Does this mean they should do it every year? Nope. This was special and should keep it that way. As far as the match, I don’t think there is a person out there that thinks this will actually be a bad match… even with Cena in it. Both know that this NEEDS to come off as strong as possible and I have no doubt that it will try to steal the show. Will it? That remains to be seen.

Great Puma’s Prediction: The Rock

What they will do: John Cena

The argument for the Rock “must put over” John Cena is lost on me. Cena doesn’t lose a thing if he loses at Wrestlemania. The Rock however loses a lot. With a loss to Cena, it says that the best of the Attitude era isn’t as good as the best of the present day WWE. The WWE is surviving on the ethos created and built by Stone Cold Steve Austin, The Rock, Mankind and DX in the Attitude era. It’s arguable that today’s WWE superstars could not compete with the superstars of the Attitude era. Cena needs to put over the Rock as a tribute for all that the Rock has accomplished and built for the business that John Cena and his peers have prospered from. The Rock didn’t have to come back for one or two matches but he has. Cena losing to the Rock would be the respectful thing to do. Every has it’s mega star and John Cena just isn’t it. The Rock putting Cena over would be like Muhammad Ali taking a dive for Wladimir Klitschko. As dominant as Wladimir Klitschko is in today’s heavyweight boxing ranks, the hearts of the masses still belong to Ali.

Hell In A Cell
Triple H vs. The Undertaker with Shawn Michaels as the Special Guest Referee

Great Puma’s Prediction: Undertaker

What they will do: Undertaker

The WWE isn’t that dumb. They wouldn’t put one of the main reasons people tune into Wrestlemania in jeopardy would they? Undertaker should take this and goes on to win at least five more before he retires. The great thing about the Undertaker is that he doesn’t have more than ten World Championship tenures, he was never the top merchandise seller, and he certainly isn’t recognized for an over-the-top moveset or catch phrases. Undertaker is an attraction and show all unto himself. He doesn’t need titles or controversy to add to his legacy. Undertaker’s staying power in an incredibly fickle business should be the sole reason that Triple H puts his ego aside and make the Undertaker look like the baddest and most dangerous man ever to walk into a Hell in a Cell. It’s not the right thing to do; it’s the only thing to do.

Mascara De Fuego’s Prediction: Undertaker

What they will do: Undertaker

Did this match need HBK? Nope. But did this match need the Hell in the Cell, you’re damn right it did. I was not excited at the prospect of yet another match by these two at WrestleMania (now going on THREE) but I think the added stipulation of the HIAC cage added another level to this match. Yeah, there have been a lot of HIAC matches in recent history with the stipulation getting its own branded ppv. But this year that ppv is off the calendar, which means we just might get ONE HIAC match this year… that’s a good thing. This match should be at least as good as last year even though it will have tough competition. I don’t see HBK adding much to this match until the end when HHH gets pissy that he lost to Taker… again. I know its farfetched but I am crossing my fingers for blood in this one.

WWE Championship
CM Punk vs. Chris Jericho

Great Puma’s Prediction: Chris Jericho

What they will do: CM Punk

This is another case of a superstar from another era coming back to face a superstar of today. Chris Jericho knows what’s good for business and I doubt he would have any problem putting CM Punk over. I wouldn’t mind either way but I think a CM Punk hell bent on revenge is better than a CM Punk defending and defeating foe after foe. It makes for better storylines and I don’t think people will want to invest in a post-Wrestlemania pay per view if they know CM Punk can defeatJericho. I’m going withJerichoon this one because I think it would be better for business in the long term. It sure is a lot more compelling and fun with Chris Jericho around.

Mascara De Fuego’s Prediction: Chris Jericho

What they will do: Chris Jericho

First it was about being the best in the world then it became about Punk’s family… taking all that shit away these two are going to steal this show. There is no reason to think anything on this card will beat this match. Might come close, but it won’t beat this. A clinic is exactly what it will be. If it’s anything less than that would be a goddamn shame. I still think the promos should have stayed on “best in the world” and moved over to Punk’s family later in the feud. Maybe in the build up to the next ppv. But it seems they tried to cram too much all at once.

World Heavyweight Championship
Daniel Bryan vs. Sheamus

Mascara De Fuego’s Prediction: Daniel Bryan

What they will do: Sheamus

Maybe it’s just me but its felt that more build has been put into Bryan and not Sheamus. Yeah, you’ve madeBryana hateable person but what good is that when you don’t have a face you REALLY want to see beat that guy? It’s not to say they haven’t put some time into Sheamus since his Rumble win but it hasn’t been stellar in the slightest.Bryanwould benefit walking out of Mania with the belt mostly because no one seems like he is. But remember, no one thought he would get this far with the title and now he’s got a title match at WrestleMania.

Great Puma’s Prediction: Daniel Bryan

What they will do: Sheamus

Shithead heel Daniel Bryan is a lot more interesting than funny, jokey, good guy Sheamus. Sheamus gets his share of great pops but they pale in comparison to hatred that Daniel Bryan receives on a weekly basis. Daniel Bryan winning is a great story. He’s a wrestler who came from “nothing” as far as Michael TOOL Cole is concerned to become one of the top wrestlers in the ring and on the mic. I’ve been a Daniel Bryan for a long time and just watching him wrestle on the biggest stage of them all is a reward. Win or lose, I hope the WWE allows enough time for Sheamus and Daniel Bryan to shine.

WWE Intercontinental Championship
Cody Rhodes vs. The Big Show

Great Puma’s Prediction: Big Show

What they will do: Cody Rhodes

Cody Rhodes has a long career ahead of him. He doesn’t need a high-profile Wrestlemania win right now. The Big Show needs this. Show has taken one for the team at Wrestlemania throughout his career. I think the WWE needs to give him retribution for all of his sacrifice and humility. I just want to see a huge chop while Cody is in mid-air off of a Beautiful Disaster or moonsault.

Mascara De Fuego’s Prediction: Cody Rhodes

What they will do: Big Show

I know most believe that Show needs this victory, I don’t think that is the case. I think they could be onto something interesting here with a losing streak at WrestleMania. Like I said in our last post this is a streak that you can at least envision being broken at some point, not like Taker who isn’t (shouldn’t) lose. They could build to something nice for him even winning what could be is last match at a Mania down the road.Rhodeshas been constant for a while, not raising but just being a constant. I think this match could help push him further and possibly to a future Money in the Bank briefcase win.

12 Man Tag Team Match – Team Long vs. Team Laurinaitis
Team Long – Santino Marella (Captain), R-Truth, Kofi Kingston, The Great Khali, Zack Ryder and Booker T vs. Team Laurinaitis – David Otunga (Captain), Jack Swagger, Dolph Ziggler, Drew McIntyre, Mark Henry and The Miz.

Mascara De Fuego’s Prediction: Team Johnny

What they will do: Team Johnny

They couldn’t be any more blatant with how one sided this match looks. Santino’s team is a who’s-who of guys who have never been taken seriously (except for Booker T). Most of these guys have been pushed for a short period of time only to be cooled down to the point of career death. Anyone remember the failed Randy Orton vs. Kofi Kingston feud. Yep, perfect example. At least Team Johnny looks like a team of guys who have main-evented or is going to main event soon enough. Guys like Henry, Miz, Swagger and even Ziggler have all had a world title. The only former world champion on Team Teddy was JUST added on the go home show. I don’t think anyone believes that Teddy Long is going to get both shows… too bad too; the dude has been around for a long time.

Great Puma’s Prediction: Team Teddy

What they will do: Team Johnny

Why not send the crowd home happy with the faces winning? I know John Laurinaitis is good for business and all but seeing heel screw jobs week after week would get a little boring. If Team Johnny does win, expect a Stone Cold versus the Corporation-like storyline all over again. I think I’ll be bored with that.

Singles Match
Kane vs. Randy Orton

Great Puma’s Prediction: Kane

What they will do: Randy Orton

Cena beat Kane in January; therefore Orton must beat Kane in April. Kane needs a big win sooner or later but it’s not happening at the expense of Randy Orton. Orton is definitely part of the WWE’s upper-echelon/Sunday Brunch Crew and they’re not going to sacrifice Orton just to make the mid-card monster, Kane, look good. Let’s hope they keep this one short and sweet around the 8-minute mark.

Mascara De Fuego’s Prediction: I don’t care.

What they will do: Randy Orton

Yeah they really should have just not had this match and saved time on the card for the other matches. I have zero interest in this match as you can tell.

Divas Tag Team Match
Kelly Kelly and Maria Menounos vs. Eve Torres and Beth Phoenix

Mascara De Fuego’s Prediction: I don’t give a shit.

What they will do: Kelly & Maria

Something has to go on between Taker vs. HHH and Rock vs. Cena.

Great Puma’s Prediction: Kelly & Maria

What they will do: Kelly & Maria

Nothing here is going to top Snooki’s awesome handspring elbow from last year. Nothing.

Hell in a Cell Predictions

October 2, 2011

Hell in a Cell Match

WWE Champion John Cena vs. CM Punk vs. Alberto Del Rio

Great Puma: Alberto Del Rio all the way. As much as I’d like to see CM Punk wear the WWE gold, I’m all about the long term ramifications of an ADR title win. I’ve always liked seeing challenger after challenger get their opportunity to beat the cocky heel champion. With ADR as a champ, you’re guaranteed great matches and possibly new faces pushed to the main event scene if only for a match or two. Cena doesn’t need this but the WWE usually thinks otherwise. If Cena wins this, I’ll probably skip Raw for a month.

Mascara De Fuego: John Cena. Nothing is going to change here and this will just be a waste of a HIAC match just to make Cena seem even more like the Superman he is going into the Survivor Series in November. Where does this leave Punk and Del Rio? Good question, who knows. Cena doesn’t need the title and I know I’ve said this before but right now in this scenario he really doesn’t and it adds nothing to his match with The Rock. They need to take the title off of Cena and leave him out of the picture letting others use the title to elevate themselves. This WWE Title means shit and the #1 reason for that is John Cena and his 45 title reigns. Fuck.

World Champion Mark Henry vs. Randy Orton

Mascara De Fuego: Mark Henry. If there is a title that means something at the moment it is the World Title and that is because of Henry. The WWE did a solid job in Henry’s heel turn and dominance to the Title. Taking it off of him right now would be a HUGE mistake. He needs to go into this match and look like a bigger monster defending the title. These matches don’t even have to be long, they can be Goldberg style title matches, short and sweet.

Great Puma: Mark Henry please. I mentioned this in my Smackdown Review. Mark Henry needs this title way more than Orton does. Mark Henry’s new-found dominance is still in its infancy. If the WWE cares about establishing another main event monster, they’ll keep the title on Mark Henry. His aura of invincibility shouldn’t be broken until a major pay per view like the Royal Rumble or even Wrestlemania. I don’t care if Orton destroys Mark Henry from the opening bell, the end result should be Mark Henry walking out of the arena with the World Heavyweight Title.

Diva’s Champion Kelly Kelly vs. Beth Phoenix

Great Puma: As I do every month, I’m picking Beth Phoenix in the spirit of wishful thinking. I pick as a fan and not how I think the WWE is going to book shit. Beth needs to win this match. I want her to win this match. Kelly Kelly is already over with or without a title. Beth brings prestige and legitimacy to a very shallow division.

Mascara De Fuego: Beth Phoenix. One month too late but I think they finally got that they made a huge mistake in not giving Phoenix the title at Night of Champions. Match will be shits.

Sin Cara (Blue aka Mistico) vs. Sin Cara (Black aka Hunico)

Great Puma: Misitico/OG Sin Cara. Hunico Sin Cara 2 needs to lose this match so he can establish his own character. I like his style and he seems a lot less prone to botched moves than the original Sin Cara. If this match gets at least 9 minutes and is botch-free, it might be a sleeper match of the night.

Mascara De Fuego: Sin Cara (Hunico). I hope these two practice this match A LOT before this Sunday because done well it could be a great match. It wont be but he’s hoping that nothing gets botched in a Sin Cara (1 or 2) match. Daniel Bryan probably gets involved in this one setting up a triple threat next month.

Sheamus vs. Christian

Mascara De Fuego: Sheamus. Man, I hate to say it but this is the match I am looking forward to because this here will steal the show. Christian has proven that he can get solid matches out of most of the guys on the roster. Sheamus has taken to the fans better than anyone could have imaged. Both of these two guys work well together which is why this will be the dark horse of the ppv.

Great Puma: Christian. Sheamus seems to have gotten the upper hand every single week. He’s a budding star and his eventual run to the title will finally look like something he’s earned. That being said, Christian should win here. His spoiled ass character is a joy to watch and Sheamus won’t lose any momentum here if he loses.

10-03-10 WWE HELL IN A CELL REVIEW

October 3, 2010

Triple Threat Match for the United States Title

Daniel Bryan vs. John Morrison vs. The Miz

Off the bat they have Bryan come out second, why is the champion not coming out last!? Miz comes out before the match and says he was the mentor of both Morrison and Bryan. Ha. Off the bat Miz is singled out leaving Bryan and Morrison to chain wrestle in the middle of the ring.  Bryan gets on the first submission but its broken up by Miz. Miz then brings John back into the ring but John gets the tarantula! Bryan with the dropkick into the chest of Miz then Bryan gets Cattle Mutilation on Miz!!! Bryan locks Miz’s leg and they fight until John hits the Starship Pain on both! John with the advantage now who takes Miz to the outside. Miz and John fight into the crowd. Miz with the Dragon Sleeper on the step railing but Bryan makes the save. They all brawl all the way to the staging area with Miz using a large wheeled shipping box. Miz hits the SCF on John on the floor, he’s out! Bryan and Miz then fight up the stage both hitting a clothesline on each other. John then starts to climb the lighting grid, the then scaffolding! John hits a high cross body on Miz and Bryan!!! “that was awesome” chant! John with the Texas Cloverleaf on Miz!!!! Alex Riley makes the save! Bryan gets on the LaBell Lock!!!! MIZ TAPS!!!!! Solid victory for Bryan!

Winner: Daniel Bryan

Hell in a Cell for the WWE Title

Randy Orton vs. Sheamus

Its not long before they are fighting at ringside and they tease using the steel steps. Orton ends up using the steps on Sheamus and he’s busted open!… ok wishful thinking. During the match Sheamus exposes the turnbuckle but is unsuccessful to get Orton to it. Sheamus takes Orton to the outside and uses the cage as a cheese grader on Orton.. hmmm still no blood… Why the fuck did Striker just call Randy Orton “Randle”, maybe its his alter ego like Matt Hardy… Orton with a rolling power slam onto the steel steps!… only got a 2 count! Sheamus gets a backbreaker on the steps although he still hits Orton on his knee and not the steps… He gets the Broh kick but only gets a two count. Sheamus tries to hit Orton with a steel chair but Orton hits the RKO! Sheamus rolls to the outside before he can make the pin. Orton now on the outside trying to punt Sheamus but he moves and hits another Broh kick.  Orton hits the RKO on the steel steps for the pin and the win. After the match Orton straps on the title belt and climbs the cage to celebrate.

Winner: Randy Orton

I think the Bragging Rights video package just gave away the outcome of the Cena vs. Barrett match…

Josh in the back the NXT Diva’s when Nexus comes in. Josh reminds Barrett of the stips. But Barrett says they have a special gift for Cena tomorrow now, an “N” armband.

Ricardo Rodriguez is in the ring and introduces Alberto Del Rio. He mentions its his ppv debut. He talks about the little Chihuahua on Friday night Smackdown. He wants a his next challenge. He then says he is better than all of us! This brings out Edge!!! Edge says he is fighting stupidity. They banter back and forth with Edge ripping Rodriguez’s sleeve and before they can go at it, Jack Swagger comes out! He said what is stupid is a Canadian and a Mexican arguing! Haha Swagger is pissed because of his mascot’s medical bills. With leads to Del Rio and Swagger beating on Edge, Del Rio takes off but then we get an email… the GM wants an in ring apology tomorrow night but now it will be Swagger vs. Edge.

Jack Swagger vs. Edge

The match starts off where Swagger left off. Edge tries to fight back but Swagger keeps the advantage. Swagger finally gets on the ankle lock but Edge gets to the ropes quickly. Swagger gets the ankle lock again but Edge rolls out of it and Swagger ends up face first into the steps. Edge goes to the top and hits a missile dropkick for a 2 count. Camera man on the outside takes a hit! Swagger with the belly to belly off the top rope for a 2 count! Edge goes for the spear but Swagger catches him, gut wrench powerbomb!!!! 1…2….kickout! Edge looks like he got injured when Swagger was putting him in the ankle lock, Edge back to the ropes. Edge with the quick spear! 1…2…THREE! Good methodical match but the crowd wasn’t into it.

Winner: Edge

In the back Nexus is talking about trusting Wade and how they don’t want this to be the end of Nexus. Otunga has a plan… oh god no.

John Cena vs. Wade Barrett (Nexus / Cena on the line)

Wade comes on out on his own, the stip is they can’t interfere tonight or Wade gets DQ’d and Nexus is done. The match starts off with chain wrestling… it did really! They continue to exchange moves and breaking, taking their time with this. Cena gets the advantage in the first exchange but Wade finally takes the lead. Cena snaps and throws uncontrolled punches then goes for the FU which brings out Nexus. Wade gets in their faces and tries to send them back. He doesn’t want to get DQ’d here. They stick around while Wade continues to pound on Cena. Wade with a strong elbow off the second rope for a 2 count. Cena tries to fight back but Wade stays one step ahead. “lets go Barrett, lets go Cena” chants! Cena finally fights back hitting several shoulder tackles and the “you cant see me” punch. Nexus surrounds the ring but the locker room empties out and the WWE locker room has taken out the Nexus. MVP’s drive by kick to Otunga is missed by the camera. Stupid. The locker room heads to the back while Cena smiles. Cena then tries for the STF but Barrett escapes it. Wade hits a pump handle slam for a 2 count. Cena with the sloppiest gut wrench in the history of wrestling for a 2 count. Wade with the double arm suplex for a 2 count. Wade hits a side slam for a 2 ½ count! Wade sets up Cena in the corner and tries to hit another elbow but Cena moves. Both try to make it to their feet and Cena is up first, he’s going to the top. Wade cuts him off tries for the superplex but Cena fights it off and Wade hits the mat. Cena then hits his wack ass leg drop to the back of Wade’s head…1…2…kickout! Cena tries for the FU but Wade reverses it!!! Fireman’s carry slam!!!! 1….2….THR—KICKOUT!  Cena gets up FU!!! Fuck! 1…2…..KICKOUT!!!!!!!! oh shit that was close! Cena goes for the STF!!!!!……FUCK! SOMEONE from the outside distract the ref!!! Husky Harris (PERHAPS) hits Cena!!!!!!…….1………2…….THREE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Nexus is in the ring and lift Wade on their shoulders! Striker is asking for the Nexus shirt! Cena is still in the ring shocked look on his face. Good match for Barrett that helped elevate him further.

Winner: Wade Barrett

Josh in the back its all spooky and purple. Paul Bearer creeps from the shadows. He’s asked why he has returned after 6 years. He said he has been devising his own master plan and how Kane will never be the father of destructions favorite son.

Sappy video package on how the WWE likes to hug little children.

Unified Diva’s Championship

Michelle McCool vs. Natalya

The early goings of the match belong to McTaker who tries to out wrestle Natalya but its just comical and not in a good way. McCool accidentally hits Layla! Nattie with the cover 1…2… kickout! Nattie with the Sharpshooter!!!! She rolls out and hooks the heel, good counter by McCool but Nattie turns over to get the Sharpshooter back on! Layla throws her shoe at Nattie for the DQ. This ended up being a shoe throwing cluster fuck. Ugh.

Winner Natalya by DQ

Hell in a Cell for the World Championship

Kane vs. The Undertaker w/Paul Bearer

Taker kicks Paul out of the cage but Kane attacks and they fight on the outside briefly before they end up on the inside of the cage at ringside. The match finally starts and Taker takes a chair to the side of Kane. Taker has the early advantage until Kane uses the chair himself to take the lead in the match. They end up in the outside once again where they fight back and forth. Kane crushes Taker’s leg between the steel steps and the ring post and spends a good amount of time working on that part of the leg. Both end up in the middle of the ring exchanging the “boo, yay” punches. Taker gets the flying clothes line to finish that exchange. Taker goes for Old School but Kane sweeps the leg. Kane with a flurry of punches while Taker sits on the top rope. Kane finally hits the superplex then climbs the ropes for a clothesline. He goes for the cover but Taker locks in the Hell’s Gate!!! Kane shifts and tries to roll out of the ring, he then uses the ropes to break the move. Kane back in the ring, they both hit a double boot to the face but the BOTH sit up. Taker then hits a clothesline and a chokeslam for a 2 count. Taker then goes for Tombstone but Kane hits the leg and hits his own chokeslam for a 2 ½ count. Kane with a series of punches in the coner but then gets caught in the Last Ride….1….2…kickout by Kane! Taker finally gets Kane in the Tombstone but Kane reverses it!!! 1….2…KICKOUT! Kane punches the ref!? They open the cage and take the ref out. Paul is now in the cage while a new ref takes over. Kane goes after Paul, Paul ends up in the ring while Kane corners him. Taker then sits up chokeslams Kane! There is a lot of pausing here, this is strange. The arena goes purple Paul pulls some light out of the urn and Taker takes it in the face. Paul then offers Kane the urn… this is weird. Kane then hits Taker with the Urn, hits a chokeslam for the pin and the win. That was such a strange and awkward ending to that match.

Winner: Kane

Well, at least Cena went Nexus and the opening match was good shit…
