Goldust, Cody, and the World Champ bring the house down in the main event.

Quick Results

Tampa, FL

  • John Cena comes out to a pretty big pop with less boo birds than usual. Cena puts over the World Heavyweight Championship in his newly reinstated Boston drawl. He says the World Champ is here and if you want some – you know the rest.
  • The Real Americans come out. Zeb Colter congratulates Cena and thanks Cena for beating Alberto Del Rio. Colter runs down ADR and the crowd, and puts over Cena. Colter then invites Cena to join the faction and join them in saying their “We the People” catchphrase. Cena busts some silly caps on the Real Americans to delight of mostly of everybody under 12.
  • Damien Sandow comes out and calls Cena a hypocrite and a false champion. Sandow calls himself the uncrowned champ and that his sole purpose in life is to end the Cena era in the WWE. The heels threaten to attack, which brings out the Rhodes brothers.
  • Vicky comes out and makes the main event of Cena and the Rhodes boys vs. Sandow and the Real Americans.
  • Dean Ambrose and the Shield cut a promo on the Usos. Reigns and Rollins tease another “look” of being annoyed with Ambrose’s mouth.
  • The Usos defeat Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose when Jimmy Uso pins Ambrose with a sunset rollup.
  • The Wyatt Family defeat The Prime Time Players when Luke Harper pins Titus O’Neil with a running clothesline.
  • Miz comes out to host MizTV and says Randy Orton would not be the WWE Champion without the help of Shawn Michaels. Orton comes out, says some shit and RKO’s Miz.
  • Dolph Ziggler puts over WWE Shop merch. Wow.
  • The Bella Twins & Natalya defeat A.J. Lee, Tamina, & Alicia Fox when Natalya taps out AJ with the Sharpshooter
  • They show a wwe.com interview with Triple H and he says that Big Show is banned from the WWE for life.
  • John Cena & the Rhodes Brothers defeat The Real Americans & Damien Sandow after Cena drops Swagger with an AA.

Highlights

Despite the pro-Cena post production of the audio, I liked how Cena put over the World Heavyweight Championship. However, I didn’t care for Cena’s elementary school insults of the Real Americans. Sandow was gold and I hope this program elevates his status on the roster.

Good promo from the Shield as usual. They’re pretty blatant with their looks of dissatisfaction with Ambrose. I really hope this is just a hiccup and that they’re still together at least till Wrestlemania.

The Shield vs. the Usos was good as usual. I usually get tired of seeing the same two teams wrestle over and over again, but I could watch these two teams wrestle each other at least twice a month. They always seem to throw in a few new wrinkles in every match which is pretty impressive. Loved “aww shit” Roman Reigns’s expression when Big E came out.

Love that the Wyatts are doing a few double team power moves. Titus O’Neil did a nice looking powerslam on Harper. Also, Harper’s match ending clothesline was reminiscent of JBL’s Clothesline from Hell.

MizTV was what it was. I still have a bitter taste in my mouth knowing that Daniel Bryan is not my WWE Champion after being strung along for five months.

So instead of keeping Ziggler in a relevant storyline, they have him going all Crazy Eddie for WWE goods. Ridiculous.

Decent Divas match. I’m ready for some NXT talent to be called up.

Good main event. Not as good as any of the previous main event involving the Shield, but this match held its own. Goldust continues to amaze me with his overall pace and intensity in the ring. I hope his current run doesn’t fizzle out before he eventually retires again. I’m hoping he’s put on a schedule like Chris Jericho, where he can add some longevity to his already stellar career and his character could stay fresh with the current audience.

The rumor of him and Cody feuding isn’t a bad idea but I prefer seeing them as a main event level tag team. Cesaro’s Giant Swing on Cody was a nice moment. The idea of John Cena getting pummeled with the Giant Swing is all sorts of right. I really hope we get to see that someday sooner than later. Cena ends the show again and my Friday night Smackdown viewing has officially become a little less exciting than what I was used to. I’m going to miss Daniel Bryan and the Shield tearing the house down. Overall this was a good episode of Smackdown with some solid matches.
