Hey, let’s hype a whole pay per view in one six man tag match!

QUICK RESULTS

  • The Show starts off with Randy Orton and The Big Show on MizTV. Big Show claims that Orton is going down Sunday at the pay per view. Orton says that Big Show is not going to let Big Show KO him in his hometown of St. Louis.
  • Zeb Colter comes out with Jack Swagger. Colter says that the real big news from Extreme Rules is that Swagger is going to emerge as the number one contender for the World Title.
  • Alberto Del Rio walks out with Ricardo Rodriguez and tells Colter to shut up. ADR and RR add that Swagger is going to quit and that the winner’s name is going to be Alberto Del Rio.
  • Mark Henry comes out and talks shit about running through Sheamus and pullin’ semis, which brings out Sheamus. Sheamus says some shit about starting shit right now, and a mini battle royal between the faces and the bad dudes starts. The good guys cleaned house and stood tall at the commercial break.
  • Teddy Long set up tonight’s main event of Mark Henry, Big Show & Jack Swagger against Sheamus, Randy Orton and ADR.
  • The Shield (Seth Rollins & Roman Reigns) defeated The Usos when Reigns speared one of the Uso’s out of nowhere for the pin.
  • After the match, Dean Ambrose came in and joined his teammates in a post match beatdown. Kofi made the save with a steel chair in hand.
  • Teddy Long and the Miz are speaking in the back. Damien Sandow interrupts them, and Teddy makes a match between Miz and Sandow for later on.
  • Brodus Clay & Sweet T defeat The Prime Time Players when Clay splashed Darren Young.
  • Chris Jericho submits Antonio Cesaro with the Walls of Jericho
  • After the match, Fandango tries to attack Jericho but gets run out of the ring. Jericho then follows with a Codebreaker on Cesaro.
  • In a taped promo, Zeb Colter drops knowledge on our own U.S. government and justice system. He also speaks on Alberto Del Rio and Dolph Ziggler, and then manages to tie it all together to put he and Jack Swagger over.
  • The Miz taps out Damien Sandow with the Figure Four
  • Kaitlyn pins Aksana via Spear
  • Six Man Tag: Randy Orton, Sheamus, & Alberto Del Rio defeat Mark Henry, Big Show, & Jack Swagger (with Zeb Colter) via Orton pinning Swagger with an RKO

Highlights

  • MizTV is still… something people want to see? I guess Chris Jericho wasn’t on Smackdown so they had to resort to the Miz. It’s not a bad thing, it’s just not a great thing. However, all the guests made this an awesome opener. Key line from the Big Show, “Instead of an RKO, it’s going to be a TKO.” I’m sure you can guess what Randy Orton responded with. The true star of this segment was Mark Henry. Dude’s promo just stood out from the rest while the other superstars just seemed to dial it in. Not sure why Sheamus continues to do his “Irish Cena” persona.
  • Really disappointed with the Shield’s tag team match. It wasn’t their fault that they were given about 2 minutes and change to work with. The Uso’s look great despite the super fast finish.
  • The Primetime Players have grown on me since they’ve toned down the jive talk and amped up their own personalities. Their match was decent, but I guess the WWE is setting up Clay and Sweet T as the Shield’s first opponents to defend their tag titles against (if and when The Shield win the tag team titles).
  • Yeah, the pull part of Cesaro’s push/pull is officially on. He tapped out rather quickly to the Walls. I expected a little more from Jericho and Cesaro but I guess they’re not technically feuding so there’s little pull out all the stops for.
  • Dutch Mantel/Zeb Colter is a treasure. I’ll be sad when his storyline is over. He’s becoming one of the best speakers on the mic in the WWE.
  • Watching the Miz do the Figure Four is like watching the Phantom Menace. It says “Star Wars” but it ain’t really “Star Wars.” Know what I’m sayin’?
  • I found Kaitlyn vs. Aksana to be a little more entertaining than the Miz-Sandow match. Not sure why I’m even mentioning that fact but I feel it needs to be said. Kaitlyn had a nice run as Diva’s champ but I’m afraid this who secret admire angle is going to play into Kaitlyn losing the title to AJ.
  • The main event should have been called the Sheamus Showcase. He carried the brunt of the match with his power moves, while ADR and Orton showed flashes of their offense in bits and pieces, and at the end of the match. They tried their best to highlight three of the match ups at Extreme Rules but I was left feeling like the Shield matches are still the only matches that I’m interested in.
  • Overall this was just an okay, go-home episode of Smackdown that was used for last minute buys for an Extreme Rules pay per view that seems very lackluster on paper.
