Alberto Del Rio is winning like a Super Cena

Quick Results

  • Alberto Del Rio comes out to the ring to start the show. He panders to the crowd and exclaims that “we” are going to Wrestlemania. ADR rants on Jack Swagger and how this country was built on the backs of immigrants. ADR says that his title reign is the result of hard work and the American dream.

  • Randy Orton interrupts and says that Jack Swagger took his opportunity and how he was so close to facing Del Rio at Wrestlemania.

  • Booker T walks out and books a champion vs. champion match between Del Rio and IC Champion, Wade Barrett. Booker also books Orton vs. Swagger for later on tonight.

  • Sheamus pins Damien Sandow via Brogue Kick

  • They show an awkward backstage encounter between Kaitlyn, Cody Rhodes, and the “lovestache.” Seriously.

  • Kaitlyn & Layla defeat Tamina & Aksana when Kaitlyn speared Tamina for the pin.

  • There was a conversation between Wade Barrett, Jack Swagger, and Zeb Colter. Zeb says that Wade is part of the problem and that he hopes Wade and Del Rio kill each other in a 2 for 1 deal. They leave with Wade looking baffled and a little bit pissed.

  • Jack Swagger pins Randy Orton with his feet on the ropes

  • Matt Striker interviews Wade Barrett about Barrett’s movie. Sheamus interrupts and disses Wade’s acting skill. Wade rebuts with the fact that Sheamus got his ass beat by the Shield two nights in a row.

  • Miz submits Cody Rhodes via Figure Four

  • Zeb Colter and Jack Swagger watched the ADR match from the entrance.

  • Alberto Del Rio submits Wade Barrett via Cross Arm Breaker

  • Zeb and Swagger walk towards the ring and the show ends with an ADR and Swagger staredown.

Highlights

  • I’m okay with good guy Alberto Del Rio, but I hope he doesn’t enter cheesy lame joke territory, where Sheamus dwells in. I liked what ADR had to say and it’s nice to see how well the crowd is taking to this new Alberto Del Rio.
  • The only Sheamus match I want to see is him versus John Cena. Sheamus matches are the same matches John “Super” Cena used to have 2 years ago. Sheamus is winning every match and he’s always heavily protected when he loses. I can’t recall the last singles match when Sheamus was pinned clean. This match was no exception. Sheamus started off dominant, which didn’t help Sandow’s cause when he started to get some offense in at the middle of the match. I just didn’t buy that Sheamus was taking any damaged from Sandow’s relatively low risk, methodical offense. All it took was one of Sheamus’s high impact moves for him momentum again. You’ve seen this match before.
  • I found the Diva’s tag team match to be a little more entertaining than the Sheamus match. I’m surprised they let Kaitlyn pin Tamina again so quickly after their Elimination Chamber encounter. I guess that feud is squashed and hung out to dry.
  • I never thought I would say this but Wade Barrett did an excellent job of looking confused after his confrontation with Zeb Colter. Great segment.
  • The Swagger-Orton match was okay. I think my favorite part was Orton looking just as pissed as he did after the Elimination Chamber.
  • Glad Wade Barrett got a one up on Sheamus. Wow. Look at me rooting for Wade Barrett tonight. Ha!
  • The Miz-Cody match was solid and the Figure Four finish makes me like it so much more. Cody had a small picture and picture promo and he’s now trying to get over the “lovestache.” I pray that he’s not trying to do a PG rated Joey Ryan gimmick.
  • Really great to see Alberto Del Rio be given the WWE inner circle treatment. He’s winning cleanly and is clearly the guy that WWE wants to market and push. The match itself was good and two men seemed to work well with each other. I love how ADR uses a superkick to a kneeling opponent. It’s an excellent addition to his moveset, which is already one of the more interesting sets in the WWE.
  • Overall this was a good Smackdown with solid wrestling with limited amounts of backstage nonsense. I would skip to the last two matches and watch some

  1. Estell Newton Says:

Del Rio is not a good guy. Remember what he did to Shaemus and Big Show? He should be behind bars not in the ring.
