No Way Out 2012 Thoughts & Review

From wwe.com

Great Puma went solo here. Mascara De Fuego is in Russia right now trying to beat John Bradshaw Layfield to the top of Mount Elbrus.

World Heavyweight Championship Match

World Champion Sheamus retains the title versus Dolph Ziggler via Brogue Kick

~ I hope this is one of those matches that gives the WWE brass the confidence to push Dolph Ziggler to new heights. Dolph looked great on offense and bumped like a mad man. Sheamus did his thing as always but Ziggler really shined in this match. The match was flawless and both men made it look easy. I don’t give match ratings but I recommend anyone to watch this match.

Tuxedo Match
Santino Marella defeats Ricardo Rodriguez via Foot Cobra Strike

~ I think this was a pretty smarky crowd. They didn’t allow themselves to be entertained and their overall attitude towards this match didn’t help it. Ricardo got some offense in and that’s all Ricardo Rodriguez fans can ask for at this point. I’m not sure where both men should go on from here but let’s hope this is their blow off match. Skip this match for now.

I really think fans that chant “BORING” should be murdered, or at least punched in the face. I’m kidding. No other sport or art form accepts chants like this from their audience and neither should pro wrestling.

WWE Intercontinental Championship
Christian © retains against Cody Rhodes via Spear

~ This started out at a moderate pace but it sure picked up near the end. The final minutes of this match really put this pay per view over the top for me. Christian and Cody work so well together and I wouldn’t mind seeing them feud for another four weeks. After you see the opening match, definitely watch this one.

Fatal Four Way Tag Team Match
Primetime Players (Young & O’Neil) defeat Primo & Epico, Justin Gabriel & Tyson Kidd, and The Usos

~ Good and wild tag team match. Watch this for Tyson Kidd’s crazy off the top ‘rana on Primo onto a a group of wrestlers outside. Great stuff!

Triple H comes out in a suit. He challenges Brock Lesnar to a match at Summerslam. Triple H says he wants to fight him.

~ Well that does it. Brock Lesnar gets paid 5 million dollars to put over WWE’s inner circle of golden boys. That’s sports entertainment for you.

WWE Divas Championship
Layla © vs Beth Phoenix

~ Layla has gotten so good that I wouldn’t have minded if this lasted a few more minutes that it was given. Beth was solid, and Layla performed beautifully but all I could think about was when and where will Kharma show up? Please watch this match if you don’t mind good Divas wrestling.

Sin Cara pins Hunico via Tilt-a-Whirl DDT

~ Bryan Alvarez tweeted ” “Sin Cara wins in huge upset #NoWayOut.”

Skip this match. You’ve seen it before at least five times.

WWE Championship Triple Threat Match
CM Punk © retains his title against Daniel Bryan and Kane

~ This is why I watched this pay per view and it absolutely delivered. I knew these three wrestlers had chemistry and they certainly showed it tonight. I loved the Doomsday Device off the springboard on Bryan, who was on Kane’s shoulders. That was pretty spectacular as well. However, I would still watch the Ziggler match first as great as this match was.

I’m afraid this feud is becoming more about AJ than the actual competitors. AJ is great and all but I’d really like to see a rematch without her involvement. I also wonder if they’re going to give AJ any sort of push, and if they do, will they put Kharma over her?

AJ is at least one of the top five characters in the WWE right now. She gets just as good of a reaction that Vicky Guerrero or John Laurinaitis get. I think they should strike while the opportunity presents itself. I would hate AJ to become another Zack Ryder that didn’t get promoted the right way and at the right time.

RYBACK squashes two Local Workers

~ I enjoy Ryback destroying people. I’m happy to see that Ryback made it to pay per view. Unfortunately, the crowd was to smarky for it’s own good. The Goldberg chants are so five minutes ago. Let’s hope the squashes continue.

Steel Cage Match
If Show Loses, Johnny Ace Is Fired, If Cena Loses, He’s Fired
John Cena defeats The Big Show by escaping the cage

~ I really don’t know what to say about this other than I was eventually disappointed by the outcome. Why build up Big Show to be this unstoppable monster if he’s only going to get beat by Cena in the main event? They could have built this conclusion all the way up to Summerslam. The people would have bought into Show being Cena’s greatest challenge as well as being totally fed up with Laurainitis and his antics. Instead the WWE blew their creative load and ended the pay per view with this contrived finale.

This was a great pay per view with a very predictable ending. Watch this for the superb wrestling and skip the main event. As I’ve mentioned before, you’ve seen Mr. Jean Shorts overcome the odds before.
