Wrestlemania 27 Live Event Updates & Commentary

Join us here tonight at 4pm PST for live event updates and commentary of WWE’s Wrestlemania 27, live on pay per view from the Georgia Dome in Atlanta, Georgia. FighterHayabusa.com writer, Mascara de Fuego’s review of the pay per view and our post-pay per view podcast will follow shortly after the event.

Come back and read our predictions and analysis of the WWE’s premiere event of the year.

R&B singer, Keri Hilson, sings America the Beautiful on one of the biggest stages ever at a Wrestlemania.

The Rock is introduced!

The Rock comes out in a black track suit with white stripes and a patriotic Brahma Bull logo on the back. The crowd is raucous!

The Rock says this is going to be the most memorable Wrestlemania of all time.

We are making history right now. We’re going to have some fun.

He starts a “Wrestle – Mania” call and response chant.

Fruity Pebbles chant started by the crowd. The Rock leads a Yabba Dabba chant as well.

Rock says that Wrestlemania is bigger than Christmas. No offense Santa. Another “ROCKY” chant breaks out.

They show the crowd in the “If you smell” position. Classic. Rock says the classic catch phrase and leaves the ring.

Match 1. World Heavyweight Championship Match: Edge (c) retains against Alberto Del Rio

Alberto Del Rio comes out in a gold robe.

Jerry Lawler and Josh Mathews are in tuxedos.

Christian comes out.

Edge comes out and a GIANT EFFIN’ CUBE is in the middle of ring displaying additional graphics.

UFC style introductions with both men in the ring. Awesome.

Great Puma: Great first match. ADR’s counter to Edge’s rollup, followed by the Cross Arm Breaker was genius. Good for WWE for surprising us with Edge retaining.

Mascara de Fuego: Wow didn’t see that one coming! Good match but I totally thought this was ADR’s match to win!

2.  Cody Rhodes pins Rey Mysterio

Rey Rey comes out in a Captain America outfit. FRESSHHHHHH!

Cody gives Rey a hanging Superplex. Never seen that before.

Great Puma: Good match. Nice to see Rey put Cody over. Both men did a great job of putting each other over. A job well done.

Mascara de Fuego: Solid match between Cody and Rey. Very cool spots in this one the highlight for me was setting the delayed superplex by Cody. Strong victory and back for the youngest Rhodes.

Snoop Dogg and Teddy Long are looking for talent to go on Snoop Dogg’s tour.

  • William Regal auditions with a freestyle!
  • Great Khali and Beth Phoenix do Grease.
  • Roddy Piper attacks Zach Ryder after a rendition of Rebecca Black.
  • Yoshi Tatsu and Chris Masters do We Will Rock You.
  • Hornswaggle goes on but Teddy Long suggests that he and Snoop roll out since Horny can’t speak.
  • The lights dim and Hornswaggle grabs the mic and rocks a rhyme with the Bella twins dancing in the back.

3. 8-man tag team Match: Kane, Big Show, Santino Marella, and Kofi Kingston defeat The Corre (Wade Barrett, Ezekiel Jackson, Justin Gabriel, and Heath Slater)

Santino hits the Cobra on Heath Slater followed by Big Show’s KO punch. It’s over.

Great Puma: Total squash. Glad I got to see the Cobra.

Mascara de Fuego: Not much to say, it was a short squash. Lame.

Stone Cold and Rock bump into each other in the back. Awesome moment.

4. Randy Orton pins CM Punk

  • Punk rams Orton’s injured leg on the steel steps.
  • CM Punk does Bret Hart’s figure four around the post.
  • Orton hits an RKO in mid-air off of Punk’s springboard clothesline. Sick.

Mascara de Fuego: Good match but I think they made it obvious that Orton would be coming out on top.  Crowd was awake for this one. Punk is so far the star of the show.

Great Puma: This was the finish of the night so far. Punk worked his ass off here. Great storyline of Randy’s injured leg.

The Rock confronts Pee Wee Herman, John Cena’s number one fan.

Pee Wee does the Rock’s catch phrase.

The Hall of Fame inductees are introduced on stage.

HBK is introduced last with his entrance.

5. Jerry Lawler submits Michael Cole (w/ special guest referee Steve Austin)

  • Booker T and Jim Ross make their way to the announcing booth!
  • TOOL comes down and cuts a promo on Lawler and Jim Ross.
  • Stone Cold Steve Austin comes out on a four-wheeler and almost runs over Jack Swagger.
  • Jim Ross: “Cole is a pimple on the buttocks of life”
  • Lawler hits the fist drop from the second rope. Lawler then puts Cole in an extended Ankle Lock for the win!
  • Booker T comes in and does a Spinaroonie. Huge crowd pop!
  • Stunner for Booker T!
  • Josh Mathews reads a RAW GM statement: Cole wins by DQ.
  • Stunner for Josh Mathews!

Mascara de Fuego: This match was exactly what it should have been, the ass kicking of Michael Cole! Very entertaining and Austin stunners were the cherries on top!

Great Puma: Good match. I still think the beating of Cole could have gone for a few minutes longer but this was amazing. Josh Mathews sold his ass off for that stunner.

6. No Holds Barred Match:  The Undertaker submits Triple H

  • HHH comes out to Metallica’s For Whom the Bell Tolls. Gladiators with shields scatter. In the center, HHH appears with a skull mask and crown. It goes dark and HHH comes out to his original entrance.
  • HHH shoulder tackles ‘Taker THROUGH Michael Cole’s plexi cubicle!
  • ‘Taker back body drops HHH off the table to the floor!!!
  • ‘Taker with a dive from the ring to HHH on the outside. Brilliant.
  • HHH spinebusters Taker from the steel steps THROUGH the Spanish Announce Table. Sick!!!
  • Both men just countered each other’s finishers.
  • Taker just kicked out of a Pedigree. Barely.
  • HHH just kicked out of a Last Ride. Barely.
  • HHH kicks out of a Tombstone. Really.
  • Pedigree!!! Undertaker kicks out.
  • A THIRD Pedigree! ‘Taker kicks out again!
  • HHH hits a TOMBSTONE!!! Taker kicks out. The crowd is eating this up.
  • HHH goes for the pin. HELLS GATE!!!
  • Taker holds on a long time. HHH grabs the sledgehammer but drops it.
  • HHH taps and it’s over.

Mascara de Fuego: Match of the mother effin’ night! these guys had a compelling match that almost… almost had you believe that Triple H could have walked out victorious! This is what WrestleMania is all about!

Great Puma: WOW. Just wow. Undertaker shows he’s still one of the biggest MMA fans around. This was basically a pro wrestling version of the Anderson Silva vs. Chael Sonnen finish but 10 times more drama. Excellent excellent match. Cena and the Miz have BIG SHOES to fill in the main event.

HHH walks off. Undertaker is stretchered out. HUGE “UNDERTAKER” chant.

6-person mixed tag team match: The Brunette Mafia (Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi, Trish Stratus and John Morrison) defeat Dolph Ziggler and LayCool (Layla and Michelle McCool)

Snookie hits a HANDSPRING ELBOW on McCool!

Snookie with a cartwheel splash and it’s over!

Great Puma: What a total surprise to see Snooki pull some Great Muta shit out of her ass. I am entertained.

Mascara de Fuego: Snooki just showed up every other chick on Jersey Shore that’s tried to make a wrestling impact! Short but to the point and the WWE will get their TMZ moment.

WWE Championship Match: The Miz (c) retains against John Cena

They show an amazing package of Miz staring in front of monitors showing his reality TV and wrestling career with Nas’ Hate Me Now as the soundtrack. Fresh.

There’s a southern choir on the stage. DMX narrates a monologue over footage of Cena’s career and clips of his childhood.

Back and forth match. Crowd is pretty subdued.

Lots of boos for Cena. Miz is getting a lot of pops for his offense.

Both men get counted out. The Rock comes out and says this match has to continue.

Rock Bottom to Cena. Miz covers…one…two…three!

End of Show…

Great Puma: I still feel Undertaker vs. HHH should have went last. The crowd was deflated for this and it took a Rock run in to save it and end Wrestlemania on a good note.

Stay tuned for Mascara de Fuego’s Wrestlemania Review coming up next!
