NWA from Hollywood Report 11-28-10

by

Ok so I’m going to try a regional review here on Fighter Hayabusa with NWA from Hollywood… This does remind me of watching NWA on kdoc back in the day trying to stay up late to catch real wrestling matches and not the clowny WWF shit. Guys like Arn Anderson, The Midnight Express, Ric Flair and The Great Muta. Or as old fucks like me call it, the good ol’ days.

Off the bat the commentators look bush league.

Graphics are something out of the 80’s and not in a good way.

Their intro starts with old classic footage which is mixed in with new stuff… I get what you’re trying to do but its not working here.

Everything is shot in that TNA Reaction film style.

Austin Aries beat Famous B with an inverted figure four. Interesting set of chain wrestling by B, good old school stuff but he’s a bit of an overseller. Aries is always dope.

Looks like there is 25 people in the audience. Turn down the lights!

I get that David Marquez, is being built up like a Soley/Mean Gene type of guy but is he really the right guy for this spot. Considering how bad the commentators are it might actually be the best they got… Also doesn’t help when Marquez is taller than the talent.

Slymm debuts tonight… This dude has been in the California circuit for a while yet I don’t think I have ever seen him wrestle. Or maybe I did and didn’t notice…

Footage of last week with Joey Ryan, Kaos and Peter Avalon. This is poorly explained by Marquez. Its like trying to get your drunk buddy to explain what happened in The Deadly Hallows and it make sense.

Strange backstage interview with NWA Champion Adam Pearce and some kid trying to get over the next TV taping but spent more time making fun of this kid.

Lucky O’Shae beat Rachael Summerlin. Nice Hurricanranna by O’Shea but a couple in ring botches, no biggies though. Some fat quiet guy who can cross his arms well distracts Summerlin setting up for the roll up pin by O’Shea.

Dave Marquez in the back with Joey Ryan. This guys looks has changed a whole lot during the years but not his ring work. I miss Scott Lost.

Colt Cabana cut a promo on the December 8th show. This dude is so solid.

Generic interviewer 2 is interviewing Nicki the New York Knockout. She cut an Ultimate Warrior style promo which was all over the place making reference to some shit that happened to her in the 5th grade…!?

Slymm beat Ray Rosas with a tackle. Look out Slymm bites chains a lot.  He’s like a black John Cena even down to the shitty finishing move.

Slymm does an in ring promo with Marquez. Trying to play good guy but brags about shit he’s got.

Joey Kaos beat Joey Ryan with help from Avalon. Cant believe Kaos still wrestles and even worse with these UGH boots. Its like he’s trying to be Brusier Brody but doing a shitty job. Ryan is sporting a Magnum TA mustache. Both still wrestle like they did years ago, same ol’ shit.

The refs try (poorly) to separate Kaos and Avalon from beating on Ryan until Willie Mack (who should be called Hacksaw Junk Yard Dog) comes down to make the save.

And the show is over!

Overall? I’d have to really be in the mood to watch wrestling to come back. Don’t get me wrong, I respect what they are trying to do here and bring wrestling back to the LA local market but I wasn’t sold tonight. Shit, PWG is what was legit here why not use that fed? Maybe I’ll have to tune in on a night Colt Cabana or Adam Pearce is on and see if that makes a difference?

Agreed. He is the best they got as far as announcing goes. Colt and Pearce need to be featured every week in some capacity. Not sure if I have my dates right but I wish Scott Lost didn’t retire before this all started. He would have rocked.
