Linda McMahon wins GOP Senate slot

Here’s a collection of blurbs on Triple H’s mama in law AKA Mrs. Genetic Jackhammer’s GOP slot victory throughout the internets.

McMahon will begin the fall campaign as the underdog in Connecticut, although she has vowed to spend as much as $50 million of her own money in hopes of capturing a seat long held by retiring Democrat Chris Dodd.

“The support of the voters of Connecticut isn’t bestowed by the establishment or the pundits or the media. It isn’t a birthright,” she told cheering supporters after her victory was sealed. “It can’t be bought, it needs to be earned. And tonight I am humbled to have earned your support.”

Fox News gets jiggy with their battle royal reference:

Linda McMahon, the former CEO of World Wrestling Entertainment, was the last woman standing Tuesday in a battle royal – this time in the political arena.

McMahon won the GOP primary in Connecticut, crushing money manager Peter Schiff and former Rep. Rob Simmons, the one-time favorite who suspended his campaign months ago but recently ran an ad reminding voters his name remained on the ballot.

McMahon will face State Attorney General Richard Blumenthal, who was unopposed for the Democrats’ Senate nomination, in November to succeed retiring Sen. Chris Dodd, also a Democrat.

“Tonight, I am honored to have earned the support of Republicans around Connecticut,” McMahon said in her victory speech, adding that she will be a voice of change.

“This election is about jobs. The American Dream is threatened, but Washington continues its reckless spending, massive debt, and tax increases,” she said. “Washington is suffocating small businesses and killing jobs. This is not only threatening our well-being, but also the well-being of our children and grandchildren. It’s time for something different.”

Finally, USA Today lays the smackdown with this gem:

Former World Wrestling Entertainment CEO Linda McMahon won an encore smackdown over Republican opponents Rob Simmons and Peter Schiff to become the GOP Senate nominee in Connecticut.

Sen. Robert Menendez, a New Jersey Democrat who chairs his party’s Senate campaign committee, immediately signaled that McMahon’s wrestling association will be an issue in her fall campaign against Democrat Richard Blumenthal.

“Under her watch, violence was peddled to kids, steroid abuse was rampant, yet she made her millions,” Menendez said in a statement.
