The Hayabusa Weekly Wrap Up

by

Join us this week as the boys from FighterHayabusa.com cover Extreme Rules, TNA World Champion Rob Van Dam, WWE releases and a real life smoke monster over Europe!

Mascara De Fuego: Welcome to this week’s Hayabusa Weekly Wrap Up! Hello, Puma what say thee?

Great Puma: I say today is Black Thursday. Many great wrestlers from the WWE were ‘let go’ today.

Mascara De Fuego: Very true! So lets start with that…

The breaking news out of the WWE is that they have released Katie Lea Burchill, Funaki, Jesse (Slam Master J), Jimmy Yang, Mickie James and Shelton Benjamin. What do you think about these releases?

Great Puma: I think it’s a tragedy that some of wrestlers never were given a fair chance to show what they can do. What can you do when you’re named “Kung Fu Naki”? I look forward to seeing Mickie James and Shelton Benjamin getting better opportunities to succeed elsewhere.  Another thing is that all of those wrestlers can actually wrestle. I stated on Twitter that it seems that being a solid wrestler doesn’t guarantee you job security in the WWE. Chavo and Carlito better watch out.

Mascara De Fuego: It’s a shame when the WWE does their “spring cleaning” and I think I was most shocked by Shelton, although I shouldn’t have been. I do hope he goes on to ROH but I think most of these guys will end up in TNA. I can’t believe They just let James and Shelton go knowing they are going to jump ship to TNA. Slam Master J could have started to team with JTG, something! But I guess its too late now.

With the crisis in European and the RAW crew getting stuck, what did you think of the job they did to save the RAW show and Smackdown’s involvement?

Great Puma: I thought the actual wrestling part of the show was solid. The 6 man tag Main Event was pretty fun and entertaining to watch. The lone successful segment was when they followed Jericho as he spoke with the S.E.S. then belted out his own mock-theme song to MacGruber. Also, seeing Punk worried about his ‘pure’ hair was priceless. Overall the show was pretty bad since the majority of the MacGruber segments went from annoying to absurd. Plus the angles for the PPV were not given their proper promotion.

Mascara De Fuego: Punk was the MVP Monday Night for me, I think he did a great job in the opening promo with Triple H and the segment in the back with the towel on his head was hilarious. I think the worst part of the show was the MacGruber shit but thats typical RAW crap. The Smackdown segments were good but again, not a fan of jobbing out your champion after he just won the title.

Great Puma: Very true. Swagger didn’t come off weak but so far he’s jobbed to Orton and ‘Taker. Basically, they’re basically saying that the World Championship is a B-Level belt as far as prestige goes.

What do you think of Rob Van Dam winning the TNA World Title?

Great Puma: I think it’s good for him and wrestling as a whole when a top worker holds the belt. However, the booking of it doesn’t make sense in the long run and I feel bad for the workers that have been in TNA longer. I do look forward to seeing RVD vs. Joe in the future for the title. The show was hot-shotted and it smells of desperation on TNA’s part.

Mascara De Fuego: After that horrible pay per view it does look like they went right to panic mode which is why RVD got the nod. I think its good for him and it will get people excited but ultimately, its STILL TNA and they will STILL fuck this up. I can’t believe they’ve made TNA worse than it was when it was just Russo running the show. Insane.

Great Puma: For some reason I doubt RVD will hold the belt for long and they’ll just give it to one of the old timers. Losing the Pope to a shoulder injury doesn’t help to improve their World Title scene. I’d throw Shelton right in the mix as soon as his no-compete clause runs out.

Mascara De Fuego: And of course Shelton will come in with some stupid gimmick, maybe as the Monopoly guy…

Great Puma: LOL. I was thinking a fake War Machine gimmick since Iron Man 2 will be out. By the way – that’s my uniform prediction for Rey Mysterio for this Sunday’s PPV. Iron Rey.

Mascara De Fuego: Iron Rey, I like that! Since you brought up the pay per view, lets get into it! Lets start out with…

Rey vs. Punk with Punk’s hair on the line.

Great Puma: Punk wins this since Rey isn’t putting his mask or career on the line. It doesn’t hurt Rey but it definitely helps the cause of the S.E.S.!!!

Mascara De Fuego: I think its too early for Punk to get shaved but they did take a huge chunk out of his hair on Monday Night. I still want to see Rey end up joining SES by force so I’m going with Punk also which hopefully will lead to a match that adds Rey to SES.

Strap Match: Shad Gaspard vs. JTG

Great Puma: I’m looking forward to this match since JTG has never really gotten a chance to show his skills. I’m sure Shad gets the duke in this match since Vince loves him some muscled giants but I do hope JTG impresses the crowd enough. I also hope Shad proves that he’s ready for the singles mid card in the WWE. Glad he’s wearing proper wrestling tights now.

Mascara De Fuego: I don’t care about this one. It’s going to take me a while to forget Cryme Tyme. But I hope both these guys can shed that crap.

Street Fight: Sheamus vs. HHH

Great Puma: Nothing worse than seeing two limited big men go at it. I guess Sheamus wins but has HHH ever been defeated when the sledgehammer is involved? I’m not interested really.

Mascara De Fuego: I’m not crazy about this match either but Sheamus NEEDS to win this match. If he doesn’t they might as well put Sheamus on the next season of NXT. They give the kid the title, run with it for a second then have him job to Triple H. What happened to booking 101, let the new guy win… oh right Triple H….nevermind.

Steel Cage Match: Edge vs. Chris Jericho

Great Puma: This should be match of the night if Punk vs. Rey goes under 15 minutes. I see Edge getting payback for the WM job. I expect a final blow off match next PPV that should be EPIC!!!

Mascara De Fuego: Agreed. If Rey/Punk doesn’t pull it off, this should be match of the night. Edge goes over but I do hope this feud goes on with adding Swagger to the mix. The draft of course could change this all.

Extreme Rules World Title Match: Jack Swagger © vs. Randy Orton

Great Puma: I care about this match solely for the purpose of elevating the status of the World Title as well as Jack Swagger. Swagger needs this defense so that the MITB win wasn’t done in vain. Orton doesn’t need a title at this point since he’s been given the Austin treatment. If Orton wins, I’ll never forgive the WWE for the 983rd time.

Mascara De Fuego: Swagger NEEDS this win, what else can be said. If they are going to FINALLY invest in Swagger then invest! Orton will hopefully help elevate Swagger and lose to him so he can go back to Smackdown and be a solid heel. Let’s not forget that this match came out of no where and makes no sense so lets hope it was made just to get Swagger over.

Last Man Standing WWE Title Match: John Cena © vs. Batista

Great Puma: Umm. I think Batista should take this. I see this PPV as the event where most of the WWE’s top heels get their revenge. Batista deserves this since his mic work has been off the charts and I don’t see why Cena needs to be invincible. Also, I’ve always felt that Cena in pursuit of a title is always more interesting.

Mascara De Fuego: You are right, Cena is a better “Sting” than a “Flair”. I hope Cena continues is legacy of short (crappy) title runs and the title goes back onto Batista. He’s made such a turn for the best lately and its good to see he can finally cut good promos which helps hide his ring abilities a bit. Its going to be wierd to see no blood on this ppv but then again when TNA has been overkill with blood lately, it will be nice NOT to have it. Over all I think this pay per view will just be ok with very few moments that will shine. This ppv hasn’t been built up to well but I think that the volcano was partly to blame for this.

Great Puma: Well, I’m glad the Volcano put on a better show than TNA. The Dirty Thunderstorms have been pretty amazing to see. It will be nice to see the WWE put on a clinic on how to be ‘extreme’ without gratuitous blood.

That concludes another Weekly Wrap Up here at Hayabusa.com! Tune in next week when we break down the NXT rookies one by one!

Mascara De Fuego: Until All Are One.

Great Puma: I’m out like Jose Aldo’s chin…hopefully. Go Faber!!
