The Hayabusa Weekly Wrap Up

by

Every week the writers of FighterHayabusa get together and smash atoms about everything pro wrestling. Here’s  a transcript  for the week of February 15th, 2010:

Mascara De Fuego: Welcome Puma to the Weekly Hayabusa Wrap up. Now we are keeping our Wrap up brief this week as you will be meeting with the Dalai Lama.

Great Puma: Word, son. You know me and the DL have to solve the world’s problems. The ending of the Survivor Series is killing him.

Mascara De Fuego: You are the man to keep him calm after that! So lets get to it! With days away from the Elimination Chamber pay per view, how do you think RAW and Smackdown faired in building that show? Anything stick out for you on either show?

Great Puma: All I know is that I hate seeing the Hart Dynasty lose. How are they going to live up to the Hart Legacy if they keep losing to the Great Khali and Jeff’s brother? CM Punk vs. Rey was an awesome match. That’s probably one of the best curtain jerkers I’ve seen on any broadcast in a year. That’s what stood out for me on Smackdown.

Mascara De Fuego: Def a solid match for Rey and Punk, I do hope this begins the feud.

Mascara De Fuego: Anything stick out on RAW for you?

Great Puma: As far as RAW goes, Show’s little stumble over Mark Henry was entertaining…and I mean that in a respectful way. I mean, Show’s the largest motherfucker in the world and even HE still tripped over Mark Henry’s girth! I hated seeing Kofi lose to that “movie star”, Ted DiBiase. Did Kofi fuck Stephanie or some shit? I just don’t get why he’s being de-pushed. I’m a little confused by the Hart accident. It doesn’t seem to be a set-up job so I’m not sure what they’re doing with it. I just hope the WWE brass noticed the POP that Kofi got when he said goodbye to Bret.

Mascara De Fuego: They spent so much time building Kofi only to kill him off and continually beat the dead horse. They need to move him to Smackdown before more damage is done and HE ends up as a rookie on NXT. I think the Hart situation is leading to Cena vs. Batista with Bret and Vince in their respective corners. I don’t know if those Elimination Chamber singles matches did anything for me in building out the ppv.

Mascara De Fuego: What did you think of the final ECW show? I think they spent too much time building NXT, which I understand but they could have spent a little more time giving props to what ECW did for wrestling. Also, I don’t get the title change at the end of the show when they appear to be killing the title off too.

Great Puma: They treated ECW like a 20 dollar WHORE at a truck stop. Not that I know anything of that nature. I think the true ECW fans know exactly what the WWE’s true priorities were that night. Get ECW off the air as fast as possible and put over NXT as much as possible. Sad, but true. That being said, I’m absolutely stoked for NXT!!!

Mascara De Fuego: Which brings us to our next subject…. What do you think of the NXT roster and the concept finally revealed?

Great Puma: I’m very pleased with it. The Ultimate Fighter is one of my favorite shows and I think a WWE/scripted version of it can turn out to be something special. I think Mick Foley’s “3 Faces of Foley” interview with Jim Ross had a lot to do with Mick’s overall success a year later. I think following the NXT wrestlers in such a personal way will allow wrestling fans to invest their emotions into these wrestlers much like they did with Foley after they saw his “real” persona.

Mascara De Fuego: I loved Tough Enough and if they can use that formula in a scripted situation, I think they could really build up stars we give a shit about. Throwing guys on the roster just doesn’t work if you don’t have something vested in the talent. Like the way they use to show vingettes of stars coming in for weeks. This could be a new version of that.

Great Puma: Exactly. I just hope they push the right people. I wonder how they are going to gauge the fan interest in each wrestler.

Mascara De Fuego: What they could do is have the mentor wrestle on his brand and have his rookie come out with him to start.

Great Puma: Exactly…sort of like someone’s apprentice or protege like they do in Japan. I hope they do that.

Mascara De Fuego: They really could do angles on the show too. Possibly feuding Bryan and Miz right off the bat.

Mascara De Fuego: What do you think about Kaval being left off the show?

Great Puma: I’m actually at peace with it. In a way, I understand that they needed some HUGE names like Mr. Perfect’s son and Low-Ki to build interest in the second season of NXT. I don’t think they wanted to blow their proverbial load on the first season. I think Bryan will be carrying the show for the hardcore wrestling heads.

Mascara De Fuego: Let’s hope so! So the big news out of TNA this week is that they are moving to Monday nights on March 8th. Do you care?

Great Puma: Not much at all. I think they need to show pro wrestling fans that the TNA brand is committed to giving us a new product with new stars and NOT some re-hash of old angles and old stars that we’ve already seen in the last decade. Just because they pushed The Pope to the moon in one night of panicked booking, doesn’t mean they’re fully committed to making new stars. They should start first with establishing Joe, Chris Daniels and AJ as their key stars. Then I’ll show interest.

Mascara De Fuego: Couldn’t agree more. What the fuck is up with Orlando Jordan beating Samoa Joe on Impact….actually nevermind lets just move on to our final topic…

Mascara De Fuego: The WWE just updated their ppv list on their website all the way to October. We will see three new ppv’s this year. May will have WWE Wild Card, June will get Fatal Four Way and most notably, July’s ppv has been renamed Money in the Bank. How do you feel about these new ppv’s and the WWE looking to take MITB off of WrestleMania for its own ppv.

Great Puma: God, it’s so literal. It’s like the WWE is marketing it’s brand to 9 year old retards. I could have sworn it was hard working adults who buy the pay per views and merchandise for said retards. It’s embarrassing really. It makes me wonder who’s really in charge any more. I mean we all know it’s a business but it almost seems like they’re taking all the good, interesting parts out of the equation.

Mascara De Fuego: Yeah, I think its stupid. Especially to take MITB off of WrestleMania. Does this mean there will be two different MITB matchs?! I really hope not. I hope they maintain it being co-branded and keep the same style of wrestlers in the match. I don’t want to see Triple H walking around with a fucking briefcase.

Great Puma: Well, that depends if it matches his fucking THOR Hammer and Conan CROWN. Fuck that guy. Like he needs any more of a push.

Mascara De Fuego: I truly believe that dude believes the hype he’s built around himself. What a cock.

Mascara De Fuego: annnnnnnnnnd on that note Sir Puma, that wraps it up for tonight.

Great Puma: Sounds good, sir. I hope the D.L. likes this mixtape I’m giving him. It gots some ol’ Tribe, De La and Special Ed on it. We’ll see.

Mascara De Fuego: It’s a must for any head like the D.L.

Mascara De Fuego: Until All Are One.

Great Puma: Alrighty, I’m out like Ezekial’s ECW title reign.
